Will the guys in the uniforms be ready to kick booty? To take no prisoners and leave no crumbs? If not, the threads do not matter. I want to see fire on the field and on the sidelines. I've seen enough of a bunch of individuals going through the motions while committing far too many penalties. Show up, ball out, and play as a team. The season starts Friday night.

If there ever was a time to tell an agent I found somebody that's a half a million ( 1 million to 2 million) less- and then make that happen - this is the time. I don't necessarily agree with trying to a budget like Money Ball the movie. But there's a reason the Steelers make the playoffs without having to fork up a $300M budget. Same with the Patriots. Now is the time to scout with extreme effectiveness, and develop these kids so they play in Sundays - regardless of Natty's. $30-35M is sufficient to put together some Joes good enough to get on an NFL roster by any means necessary. That's my philosophy. I'm not paying for potential, I'm paying for performance. I would include incentives just like the NFL does. You reach a certain stat and you get a bonus, you don't you get that flat base salary. Hardball the hell out of the agents. That would be my thing. But once again, I'm just a super hat that is blowing smoke from parts that most people don't like. And I'm not advocating the Cignetti method. I'm plainly saying there are some hungry dudes out there that will bust their butt, crack some pads, like one walk on we know that's playing for the Indianapolis Colts right now. Another is on the Kansas City Chiefs roster at the linebacker, despite his inability to cover with a lot of speed sideline to sideline. To hell with these kids with a lot of talent that want a lot of money. Coach up guys like D'Angelo Ponds who have the fight in them to take down a guy that's going to be one of the best NFL receivers, and is already one of the best college receivers ever. I mentioned this earlier this week, Chip Kelly's 2010 team was not the most talented, but they were badass. They were mean, they hit hard, and teams had trouble with them no matter what. I'll take that kind of team over the most talented team ever. Because they can play with those kind of teams. Think of Notre Dame's St Mary of the most beautiful heavenly personality versus the Grand theft Auto Miami Hurricanes. Walking into Touchdown Gosh' stadium in fatigues is epic. Most people won't agree with this, but I want the kind of fierce battles like Ray Lewis versus Eddie George. Those two couldn't stand each other while they played. They beat each other up. They took it personally. They played with an edge most people dream of playing with. That's what I want my ducks to be. And I'm not going to pay him $45 million dollars to do it. But that's just me. I want a scouting department that finds guys that play hard all the time. They say Wide Receivers were scared of Pat Tillman because Tillman wasn't afraid to knock himself out when he hit you. Those are my kind of dudes. If any of you played football, you know that I'm saying. There have been weeks I was sore for four or five days. Because I went full tilt against guys that were bigger that went full tilt. I haven't seen that from our OBD since Chip Kelly arrived as a coordinator. Give me three on the OL and DL like the 2003 team, 2 jet speed WRs, a Ferguson type TE, a Jevon Holland, a Cliff Harris, Troy Dye and Kiko Alonso. Surround them with players with grit, and you have a 2010 kind of team. If you're not familiar with those guys, play some highlights. Those dudes were the real deal. I don't see enough players in any of Lanning's teams with that kind of fire. That's why I keep saying that Lanning is a hell of a coach. He is getting performance above his players' capacity. Teams are neutralizing that advantage. Can't wait to show you how.

If there ever was a time to have an ugly uniform for the week, this would be the one. I love that uniform combo, and it's wasted on a bum!!! Also, I think the uniform reveals should be on Saturday mornings.

Not sure that we should be gazing ahead to what we need for the playoffs at this point. And this is a bad point for a cupcake game as this Saturday will tell us very little. We should take every substantive game thereafter as a substantial challenge to demonstrate that we are not the same team that lost in Stillwater. I say substantial challenge because perhaps we are not as talented as everybody seems to think we are. Guys, get the hell out there, grind every week, and begin to demonstrate that you are an aggregation worthy of all the lofty preseason kudos (aka rat poison) the sporting press has bestowed on you. The fan base deserves no less to keep believing in the Green and Gold.

Or, Sherman running down Mariota OUCH. Cost us our first natty vs a bad ND team. Well, that and the Ertz "catch".

We need 9 out of 10 to be forgiven by the PO committee.

Win the next two games and all will be forgiven.

Problem with this loss is we've lost one of our mulligans to get into the CFP. Lose two more I doubt we make the CFP.

Devon Jackson might be my new favorite player on defense. I LOVE our linebackers in pass coverage. The best part of that pick-6, to me, was that he went and immediately found his teammates to celebrate instead of showboating. He understood the moment and the impact that the play had on the game. Well done, Devon!

Yes, we are spoiled. I realize also that these are not the scrappy amateurs with a puncher's chance anymore. This is a team with one of the highest payrolls in college football. Watching Dante's press conference yesterday, I thought, "this guy is likely earning more than everyone else in that room combined". It is rarely ever healthy for men that young to have that much money available to them. And it's really hard to stay hungry.

I can’t support the idea of being glad we lost. However, I do see value in going through the rough patches early in the season, and making the proper adjustments.

I'll let someone else post the uniform reveal pics. I was interested in who was selected to model this week's threads. Not surprising, it was one of our walk ons who EARNED a scholarship with his blue collar, take no plays off attitude. Dante did not have his safety blanket TE, and the replacement players didn't step up, including a 5-star recruit. In today's college football, loss of key players is magnified. Ditto recruiting muffs on the O-line and elsewhere On the D-line, Washington was injured, but the entire D-line played like it was injured. And Dan's in-game 4th down decisions? See baby on nipple. And Ferguson and Davidson going down? Even after the stumble at Tulsa, I knew OK State, playing its opening game in the Boone Pickens madhouse, was not going to be a layup. I'm not happy with the way Oregon played in the opening games, but Oregon should have opened against Portland State and played the next two games at home against 'middle-class' G6 competition. You know? Like SC. Glad Oregon lost? Heck no! Not with a 12-team PO and a selection committee that focuses on losses. Boise State provided a wake-up call, and OBD did not wake up in Week 2. Get healthy this week, I hope, against an opponent who should have been in Autzen in Week 1. ESPN analytics give OBD a 38% chance to win at SC. Flock ESPN!

Agree 100% on the mental complacency thinking you're coming down after a massive challenge from Boise St - even though you should never relax on the road against a P4 opponent. It seemed like a perfect storm that revealed each weak spot of the Oregon football program - entitlement, schematics, discipline, and an ongoing gap in our ability to self scout. Once you notice the patterns and they prove right after a few plays, then your confidence soars and you can just pin your ears back and go. Offensive plays don't develop, because defenders don't have to account for multiple scenarios - just one. I have a sneaky feeling this may still be happening on both sides of the ball. Remember, after the Rose Bowl against Ohio St., they said our defense had tells and they had plays ready for us. All of these things can be fixed and I'm confident there's a lot of soul searching going on. The one weak spot that can't be corrected is talent and we have plenty of it. So much talent, I'm afraid this year is our golden opportunity to finally cash in with a national championship. If I were Oregon, I'd bring in every "advisor" available to get the most out of this team. And I hope Dante Moore develops a lot more attitude really quickly.

In Week 2, L$U's $am Leavitt threw three picks, and Jordan $eaton and friends gave up 5 $acks to Louisiana Tech. But this game was played at home against a G6 team. Not in a steam bath in Stillwater. As OBD fans painfully remember, the last team to go 1-1 and win it all was Big Ten Ohio State. History was made last Saturday, and history could be repeated in Vegas on 1/25/27. But OBD needs to stop having key players injured (why, time after time?) and a team WAKE-UP CALL! Excuse? Yes. But Dante went into the game with his TE bail-out security blanket. And a 5-star TE recruit is apparently not ready to see the field. Along with two O-line frosh highly rated recruits. In defense of the Defense? I've got nothin'. What happened in Japan needs to stay in Japan. Vanquish the Vikings!

I wouldn't go that far. I would say he just lost the first game that he ABSOLUTELY should not have lost. There are a couple of ewe dub games in which we were favored, '23 and the first one in '24, that even though those teams went on to have good seasons, a couple of learning curve decisions may have factored it.

Plus, Dante. He needs to correctly read his pocket. Without telegraphing it, how about some designed rollouts to both sides. I know a right-handed QB doesn't do as well rolling to the left, but he should have the skill to do it with the correct play calls.

Boise State has provoked a number of miracles out of us.

I hope they get good as much as anybody. Time will tell. As was stated earlier the PSU game really wont tell us much.

We were really concerned about the o-line two years ago after they looked bad against Idaho and Boise State, but once they did some sorting they ended up being a solid unit. Hoping this year is similar. The talent should be there...

Like so much written on the forum these days....I think the take above is exaggerated, and quite incomplete of any analysis. Our starting left guard who came in to replace the newby starter, and subsequently played well against Boise State, Trent Ferguson, from West Salem, started this last game, and I was looking forward to watching his big blocks. But he was out in the first quarter, and I did not know why? Turns out he got hurt, a season ending injury at that. So on the left side....we have two talented O-Linemen in Addison and Utu, but their experience last year was scant-to-nothing. They are athletic, but learning on the job....so you HAVE your inexperienced, but talented players already in there. On offense, the key element you have is one of surprise on every play, as the defense has to react and try to stop the play. But what IF the quarterback effectively tells the defense right up front if the play is a pass or run? How much MORE does that make it harder for offensive linemen? Especially inexperienced ones? That element alone would drag offensive performance by a massive percentage as the defense can pack the box when they know a run play is coming. It makes me wonder how many people here will eat their hyperbolic words later when things get better? (I already know the answer to that)
