  1. Note that I said more blame, not all blame. The conference was managed by bozos and they should get most of the blame, no doubt. I agree with most of what you said, but I wasnt really considering Texas or thinking of the B12, which is still considered a power conference and legitimately exists. My main point was that USC frequently blamed the conference for their lack of on-field success, but never delivered as the only historical blue-blood. Perception of the conference would have been vastly different if USC regularly contended for and actually participated in the playoff.
  2. This. USC should be getting more of the blame for the demise of the PAC, but instead they failed up.
  3. If I’m USC and my calling card (offense) was dominated by anyone, let alone the USC D, I’d be in panic mode.
  4. Fun to think about! What if we had lost to Arizona (@home, attendance 36k) the next week instead of winning 10-9? I was a senior in the student section the day of the pick, what if instead of never studying and getting a 3.20 in high school I had studied 30 minutes a day, got a 3.50 and gone NROTC at UW like I applied for? 🤔
  5. Curry went bananas! People would put up with not medaling for about 3 seconds, which is what would happen if we unilaterally stopped sending our best players. Not to mention, how do you define amateur with NIL? Even HS players have NIL.
  6. When you’re hoping for 12-0, every game is a trap game really. We also have both us and Purdue playing in Corvallis back to back in September for a direct comparison, that’s bound to be fun.
  7. We’ll see if that’s all they get.
  8. Cheat’n and lose’n…classic combo 😂 They’ve had two double digit win seasons since 2004, didn’t realize they’d slipped into 20 years of mediocrity. Even Beavis manages a 10 win season once a decade.
  9. So hard to say how this will unfold as far as number of wins correlating to making the playoff. For all we know the SEC winner could have 3 losses with the increased competition…or maybe it will be the same as always with Alabama and Georgia dominating. Countless scenarios in our new conference as well. Be most curious to see how comfortable teams are with their playoff outlook at 10 wins. The post season outcomes that aren’t involving a playoff birth all pretty much suck btw. How about the scenario where a team (any team) goes 10-2, ranked #10, doesn’t make its conference championship, and doesn’t make the playoff. It is completely possible. #10 and in the Alamo Bowl, yum! Hopefully they’ll be able to get some good matchups of non playoff teams and elevate a few bowls….but something tells me we’ll be getting a depleted #10 from a P2 versus random 8-4 team.
  10. I’m pretty sure Tennessee participates in “NIL”, and has done so for 50 years +
  11. Spot on. It’s nearly impossible for every conference addition to be a juggernaut at football. Adding a school that’s been the #1 public university for 5 years, is located in LA, plays at an iconic stadium, and has one of the most storied basketball programs ever…these things have a fair amount of appeal. Oh and my daughter is a senior to be there 😜
  12. That’s their routine…mock the foolishness of the travel involved with a nationwide conference while looking for any hopeful rumor they might be getting secretly invited to a nationwide conference. Blind with envy at every turn.
  13. 😬 One of our bottom 3 efforts of the year gave them hope.
  14. Yep, I think late is good when an opponent has questionable depth.
  15. Looking for more pathetic Beavis angst? Comedy gold! Still in denial stage of grief it seems. Hope For Beavis!
  16. Interesting. Even if every mark was hit, the most optimistic version of the P12 “deal” was horrendous. Purely from a short-term (least important aspect IMO) fiscal perspective, this was a no brainer. The larger implication of being in a P2 in the current landscape really trumps everything in my view. The only version of the PAC9 continuing that would have been worth considering would have been if we were guaranteed a larger share (double) coupled with a legitimate TV deal and the PAC champ being guaranteed a playoff spot. Even with that, the move with a half-share is still the better option, but it would have been worth considering.
  17. Wow! Beavis has a generous assessment, they have far bigger fish to fry than HB. Our biggest weakness is dropping a home game to gift a game on the road to Beavis.
  18. It’s interesting seeing it play out in the video game. I simmed a season where OBD finished 10-2, ranked #11, and got bupkis. The outcome in that scenario with what is left of the bowls not linked to the playoff isn’t pretty. I think we were slotted into the CarCare Bowl or some such nonsense 😆
  19. Great rundown! 😵‍💫 Be interesting to see how much the committee manipulates their own rankings to fit their bracket…as I understand it, the rankings aren’t determined by a third party. The only thing they can’t manipulate is conference champs, which I suppose was the point originally.
  20. No more or less bias than any other hack out there 😆 I do think Michigan is being a bit undervalued, they still have some tremendous players in the trenches on both sides, a stacked D, and a HB that looks like a day one prospect. That combo can go a long ways with in the B1G.
  21. Seems like a lot of co-mingling of the terms “weakness” and “unproven”. Historically it has always been nerve wracking if a position group has all new starters with no college experience, which really should never happen in the portal era at a place like OBD.
  22. Never take anyone lightly, but unless one of their QBs really breaks through, their offense is really going to struggle. The team slipping under people’s danger alert is BSU in week 2. They’ll be fired up, have an NFL caliber HB and very good QB, not something OSU can say.
