I want to get a read on how physical our defense will play this year, and whether the O line gives DM an opportunity to throw downfield from the pocket. Then, find out early who is QB2.

Interested to see our offensive tackles get after it. Crader, Bennett III, perhaps sprinkle in some youth at times with Iheanacho, and/or Tofi. With our defense loaded, I really want to see how they use Koi Perich. This could be a fun year for this guy..I mean who wouldn’t want to play safety on this defense…

I will play…lol Haloti is our top defensive player, but throwing out a few other defensive players names off the top of my head. Kayvon Thibideaux…Noah Sewell…Patrick Chung…Dave Wilcox…Kiko Alonso (just enjoyed watching him play), and Troy Dye…in no particular order.

I never take seats allocated to visitors…the coliseum is huge and you want to be between the 20 yard lines, and no more than half way up. Bring binoculars if you get bad seats…lol

I won’t argue about their past history. However, the SEC is becoming USC, no respect for others, and tout stats from years ago….it is a bad look.

I am sure those that carry forward balances on their credit cards from them won’t mind…they will be the ones paying the bill. I would immediately transfer balances in protest.

When will the first game of strike breakers take place? Seems that elite level NIL contracts and a players union would be at odds with one another. If lesser players (smaller NIL contracts)carry the vote to strike, for whatever reason, then elite players really take it in the shorts financially. It would stink to suddenly lose a large amount of money, for the well being of future players, when a collegiate career is rather limited.

We all are tired of the SEC telling everyone how great they once were(before NIL leveled the playing field). They really offer very little in solving the problems that face college sports today. Less than $1 billion was spent on NIL budgets in the inaugural 2021/2022 season. The total NIL budget estimate for the 2026/2027 season is approximately $4.5 billion. Without well defined NCAA rules for transfer and eligibility, coupled with consistent enforcement of the rules, chaos becomes the norm. Currently, coaches are pointing fingers at each other for tampering. Add in the ‘runaway train” of NIL budgets, and you have a ticking time bomb. The question is whether any of the problems will be solved before the bomb explodes.

The photo that shows the size difference between DM and ASJ is crazy. Would love to see ASJ get some reps this year and see if he has the “it factor”.

The 247 composite has us at #3. It is an average of 247, Rivals, and ESPN…better than 4.

It would be interesting to see the book of prospects that Oregon already has on the radar for the next few years. We all know that the effort needed to keep that “prospecting wheel” turning is a top priority. It would be interesting to see the database that they use. It would be football geek nirvana.

Biggest concern is walking back to the car at the Coliseum.

Thunder, lightning, and clean up, is what I see happening. On average, the Ducks will run the ball around 30 times/game. A “feature back” with this running back room is averaging 12 to 15 carries. I like the idea of having a feature back, but you have to keep an eye on the run of games we have late in the season, and limit the wear and tear. We know what we have in Davison, and Hill. I am curious to see who steps into the reliable clean up role.

Same thing with Kentucky on some top level talent. I think our recruiting coordinators help identify young talent, and it is partial.y due to the fact both coaches have had contact with the athletes for a few years.

Not raining on my parade, but it can be your own perspective. Nobody can change the past, but we all can have goals and dreams. To achieve any difficult goal takes the courage to risk failure. Failing to achieve a goal does not define who you are, it identifies you as an individual, or team, that had the talent to compete at the highest levels. I admire all the athletes at Oregon that have that talent, win or lose.

I would add Haloti Ngata. The guy was a beast, and nobody can handle him one on one. He is the guy that makes so many other players look good, including our DC. Might as well stack the deck, and leave no doubt who has the #1 defense.

The fact that he returns with Tuioti, Washington, and Alexander still blows my mind. Our most complete starting DL ever is on a mission this upcoming season. Can’t wait to see how far they can elevate their level of play.

In this case, knowing he was a Duck for one year doesn’t mean I fully root for him. Was not overly impressed with Wyndham Clark’s emotional destruction of private property when he missed the cut at Oakmont. He seems to have made amends, but his overall persona is not endearing to many golf fans. Empty seats were noticeable to the press when he finished yesterday’s round, and they questioned him on it. His play is world class so far this week. If he wins, good for him. But, I bet there are a lot more fans rooting for Scotty Scheffler to catch him, in order to complete his career slam.

Can team USA win the World Cup? Absolutely. Why haven’t we won? Just look at the size of our high school, and college football stadiums. We have the athletes, many are focusing on other sports. The US having success in FIFA will definitely steer more athletes over to the sport. It is just a matter of time before a World Cup is won by team USA.

Many examples of things some people do that are illegal…underage drinking, drug use, jay walking, etc … The penalty of being banned from participating in collegiate athletics is a deterrent for most players. It obviously doesn’t stop everyone, but it stops most. I suppose that If an employment contract stated that a speeding offense was grounds for termination, less people would speed. Doesn’t stop everyone, but certainly “slows them down”. The penalty is the deterrent. If the penalty is not enforced then what?

All of these players are young, but nobody can say that they are not aware that sports gambling on any sport that the NCAA sponsors is forbidden. NIL money doesn’t corrupt any of these young athletes, it just gives us a clearer picture of their morality. Most of the newsworthy stories about NIL are about the huge contracts awarded, and perhaps the misguided use of those monies. Given time, many that had an opportunity to invest for their future, will be broke because of poor financial decisions.
