The "official attendance" was 51,144. Yes, that's the official box score.

There is no freakin way that many people showed their tickets at the turnstiles.

It was warm. It was SJSU. But, it was the home opener with roster and assistant coach changes.

Those photos looked like recent snapshots at the Rose Bowl when UCLA had struggling attendance.

Wonder if there were any recruits that Oregon is pursuing who were taking an official visit?

OBD had more fans at the Spring game. 54,000? At least 44,000 were disguised as empty seats.

This looked like way back in the day: Bowdoin vs Colby, with three dozen or so canines missing from the sidelines, and a half dozen kegs missing from the stands.

I will say, I used to love watching the Ducks at the Coliseum because they have fantastic nachos. 🤷‍♀️

It actually got to nearly 97 in LA yesterday.......a health issue for quite a few folks in direct sun for 4 hours.

The humidity in socal has been deep south levels for the past few weeks, which is atypical to go on for so long. I've living in San Diego over 20 years and this is the longest and most intense humidity I can remember.

Southern Californian's deal with this one of two ways: head to the beach to soak in the 70 degree Pacific Ocean or stay in an air conditioned spot.

I'm not surprised the treated this like an NFL preseason game.

The true backups were in most of the second half, I wouldn't read any more into it than our opponents score in our first round playoff game last year.

In the first half they were dominant on defense, and the QB Maiava put up an 89% completion rate game. I do think some of that was San Jose not dealing well with the heat and humidity, they didn't have any explosiveness on either side of the ball.

Certainly there is a steep drop-off in talent from the starters to the backups at USC, but I expect USC has taken a bigger jump this off season than most expected. Will they close the gap with us? Probably a little bit, but we'll have to wait and see.

Right. And the game against Oregon will be a sell-out because....of Duck fans in California!

That's the point. USC defenders: it was hot, it was humid, it was SJSU, the beer was warm, the song girls wore leggings, it was....

If you are going to be a Top 25 fan base and compare yourselves to the rest of the Big Ten and the SEC, then you show up.

If you want to rely on excuses, then maybe every home game should be Big Ten Network or Peacock and kickoff at 8:00 pm local.

It does seat 77K plus. Not sure OR could sellout that many of they were playing P st. I did watch most of the game though. Gawd that band is annoying. Hopefully the Ducks can take some wind out of it.

That's a huge stadium and has very quiet acoustics. There is also a relatively lack of fan enthusiasm. (It must be that incessant, stupid 'fight' song ... or maybe the horse left a, uh, package on the field.)

Per the article John posted it felt 104 degrees with the humidity plus full sun. This is Southern California, home to the most mild weather in the country. They simply aren't going to deal with this extreme weather when they can watch the game at some air conditioned location. They sold 51,000 tickets, which much closer to how many people planned to go, but the prices were so cheap nobody cared about losing that money by staying indoors.

Yes, this is the West Coast and football just means less here. Their identity doesn't live and die with the support of their team, but they are still fans. Just pragmatic fans.
