At this point I don't think we're hoping that this game is a wake up call (we're out of the playoffs and by any measure this season is a spectacular letdown vs what it should be), I want this season to be a wake up call. I've been a fan for 40 years since I enrolled in '86, and I don't ever recall any Duck team underperforming its talent level so spectacularly. Lanning is young, and is a great recruiter, and I don't want to see him go anywhere, but at this point I want this season to be a lesson x4 that a program like ours in this era needs to go out and get the absolute best coordinators possible. This all reminds me of Josh Pate's Thanksgiving dinner analogy about teams loaded with 4* and 5* ingredients, but on Thanksgiving day people walk in ready to eat and there are just a bunch of top-shelf ingredients sitting there in the kitchen, but no meal, because nobody put those ingredients into an actual recipe to create a meal.

If it's not clear now that Mehringer and possibly Terry need to be relieved of their duties, then I don't know what to say.

I wouldn't be surprised if we lose some of our best players to the portal after the season.
