Sunday at 04:56 PM2 days Moderator No. DL really didn’t have any choice. I understand the loyalty and promoting from within but Mehringer seriously didn’t have any kind of resume to deserve being OC. Not for a top 5 fbs program anyway.
Sunday at 04:59 PM2 days No. Yeah, that one will go down as a historically bad decision. Kudos to DL for having the cajones to pull the trigger now rather than later.
Sunday at 04:59 PM2 days Moderator No. Does anybody know the rules for bringing in anybody short term in mid season? Seems like a Helfrich type guy could come in and at least steady the ship till the end of the season.

Hopefully, he has finally learned, that he is just not a head coach... with the one, "lightning in a bottle," exception at Oregon. But damn... he got us so close.

The way Penn State played in 2025 when Andy was there, I don't think K is Special. 😁Auditor: One who counts the bodies after the battle. This relegation is a predictable move that comes too late. DUH! Maryland fired its DC the week before the head coach was fired after losing to Rutgers the following week. Accountability starts at the top; I think Dan knows this. Bad coaching on many fronts in 2026. But can good coaching overcome bad talent evaluation? Many 4* recruits on the field cannot block. What is of paramount importance now is inviting the players who aren't cutting it to transfer out and keeping quality recruits committed; the vultures are circling. This team has to be rebuilt via the portal. A one-year regression is understandable. But Clemsoning is not. In CFB, if you are not competing for championships, you are ignored.OT, but it truly ticks me off. Saturday's game being broadcast on Peacock means a less-than-robust viewing audience. This will be NW's 3rd appearance on the Bird this season. Absurd for a Top 25 NW football team that has lost one game by two points at Indiana and should be ranked in the teens and not the twenties.

It shouldn’t matter if the new OC runs a similar offensive scheme but he should have an impressive track record. Also, let him build his own staff and bring in his own transfer players. Sunday at 07:13 PM1 day No. After throwing in some search parameters into Google AI they seem to think that Byron Leftwich is available and could clean up the mess as a QB whisperer. He is currently volunteering as a QB coach at Colorado making it possible to actually hire him.I have no idea if he has any clue about calling plays but he was a solid quarterback in his day and should be able to help the young QB become better. Always fun to see what AI has to say about things. Edited Sunday at 07:14 PM1 day by Dave23 Spelling

Sunday at 09:21 PM1 day Author No. I cant believe that I am saying this...but Oregon State has the NATIONS #3 offense and the the NATIONS #1 passing offense. Let that sink in...and maybe a new OC is just up the road. His name is Mitch Dahlen. Just saying.

Hampton is doing better with his veteran defense and he should certainly be in the conversation, but he should have to reapply for the position. The season got off to a very rough start and there continues to be big random lapses.

Yesterday at 01:17 AM1 day No. I was only using AI as there are very few people available to come in and help this year as everyone you'd really want is under contract and will be unavailable till the end of the year. A OC/QB coach is needed to preserve the rest of the season and in doing so preventing as many of the talented skill posting players from leaving via portal. After the end of the season go get the best you can find.

The sooner we can find someone the better. Someone like Locksley the HC for Maryland that was a Natty OC at Bama was just fired. A situation like that could be advantageous for us looking. I think Douglas will be interim OC.

I think Douglas will be interim OC.That would be a solid get as long as he fits the culture, can work with Dan, wants to move to Oregon, wants to be an OC and is being hired because he's the right guy for the team not just the only guy available at the time. I'm just dreading the promote from within for an intern OC for the rest of the year route. I don't follow football close enough to know who's not under contract this time of year but if there's no one qualified that wants the job right now bringing in a stop gap guy for the rest of the year would be better than a RB or WR coach, that's already been tried.Calming the locker room and making sure there's not a ton of guys running to the portal is the number one priority. Team discipline is at an all-time low and Dan needs help fast.

You don’t have time to install a new offensive system, learn the personnel and what they are capable of/not capable of, etc. while you are prepping for the next opponent. You could hire one of those experienced candidates immediately for a “trial period” (for both parties) as an offensive consultant/analyst. Edited yesterday at 03:19 PM1 day by OregonDucks
Yesterday at 03:39 PM1 day No. They need to bring someone in immediately who can SIMPLIFY everything the offense is doing—whether that’s a consultant, an interim coordinator, or even a high school coach looking for a gig. When you have highly rated, 6'5", 340-pound linemen who can't consistently get you one yard of push, you don't need anything complex. IMHO, you just need to get back to basic fundamentals.Maybe Curt Cignetti or Bob Chesney has a graduate assistant they wouldn't mind parting with!Go Ducks!
58 minutes ago58 min No. Here you thought it was a game of, "Grab A$$".All along, they were whispering, "I causi mi abbruciàvunu"!It's Sicilian... Means, "My pants are on fire!" My buddy learned it as a tenager, while driving his Grandpa's Cadillac convertible. That's what the old feller shouted from the back seat when he dozed off, and the ash from his cuban cigar fell in his lap!
