Cardele “we ain’t come here to play SCHOOL” Jones was tOSU’s 3rd string QB when they beat Helfrich and Mariota’s team in the first CFP championship game in the 14/15 season. I remember feeling totally out-classed by the depth of Meyer’s tOSU. OBD had lost our 2 top receivers (Cunningham, Allen) our top running back (Freeman), and cornerback (Ekpre-Olomu) between the semi-final and the final. And it showed. tOSU lost Miller and Daniels and still crushed us with Jones and Elliot. They also mysteriously lost an early game to an unranked VA Tech. Maybe OBD finally have the depth we need to go all the way?

Of all the teams in college football......only Oregon probably had a former 5 star QB who was very experienced playing in the BIG, highly coveted, mobile and ready to play sitting on the bench. Sincerely hope Dante gets well but IMHO if Lanning wants to actually win it all this year his greatest chance is with Dylan. If he puts Dante back in after protocol.....I'd be disappointed.

He explains it in his X post. I always thought diving to the side of the defender would be a safer play, however it could lead to more shoulder injuries if not done correctly. CFB is a little better than the NFL in that once the player is down he can’t be hit.

Sorry, but It wasn't just that player's lack of remorse or his actually enjoying his new-found celebrity status on the Trojan bench, it was all those other SC players who were congratulating him on his magnificent accomplishment ... while the SC coaches appeared to be unaware of or simply went on ignoring that disgusting behavior. That leaves the kind of stain on a program and its coaches and players that no amount of soap can wash out.

I've been thinking today about how I would feel had it been OBD on the wrong side of that scene. I definitely would have been embarrassed and disgusted, and I would have expected serious repercussions afterward. I probably wouldn't have turned the game off... I imagine many USC fans felt similarly - a bit of cognitive dissonance. The one-game suspension works to counter that a bit in the fanbase. It's inadequate IMO, but had it been OBD i probably see that and think to myself that Dan has it handled. It helps us internally justify our continued Fandom. "See, we're not the bad guys..." Meanwhile, I doubt the culture in their program changes. I truly hope and tend to believe that the current culture at OBD is better than that.

Hmmm... Pass... I mean I wasn't a fan of the grateful dead ones last year but I respect the history they were paying hommage to. Maybe I'll change my mind if I know if these are connected to a theme.

But what is the alternative? I think diving head first isn't a better way to do it.

The solution is always the same: Just Win, Baby! We play currently ranked #23 UCLA in 13 days. And that Boise State win is going to look stronger and stronger as we get later into the season. The bye week comes at a great time as it also give our coaches 13 more days to figure out our defensive riddle. The great acid test known as 'winning' almost always has a way of resolving the ranking frustration. GO DUCKS!

And... maybe we give the QB's sharp, metal, cleats.

I'm rewatching the game this afternoon just to see the positive play from OBD. So proud of how they responded to the hit on Dante. Not all is lost. 🦆

It took a while, but I finally discovered that the trick is to first... and this part is critical, lift up the seat. When this tactic is implemented, I find that my success rate of not whizzing on the toilet seat is a crazy 100%. 😉🤔
