  1. Past hour

  2. It is a different landscape today than in the early years. Indiana, UCLA, USC, Miami, Notre Dame, hell even Kentucky all have transfer QB’s. Few true freshman or even RS Freshman can take you to a championship. The Ducks are going to continually recruit the portal for QB’s. Next year will be no exception. Will Mencl may never see the field until 2030. He won’t stay around that long. Just the way it is.
  3. Agreed. I am so done with hearing that AS Jr isn't that good. If he had gone to Illinois instead of Oregon the story would have been a four star redshirt freshman QB winning the game instead of a true freshman 3 star. Why does it seem like Oregon needs five star QBs to play great when just about anybody we play can throw in back up three stars and do just fine? It is hard to believe that every QB the UO has recruited since Herbert in 2016 has sucked. How can it be that Rich Brooks in the 80's with god awful offenses could still recruit better QB's like Chris Miller and Bill Musgrave than a perennial top 10 team with outstanding offense year after year? How? HOW? Nearly every QB the Ducks recruited and started from Miller through Dennis Dixon at least got drafted in the NFL (1984-2007). Since then they have mostly relied on transfers. Something really doesn't add up.
  4. True, but a few million to play another year at Oregon and then get the bigger amount a year later would be a nice path as well.
  5. A good article. Painful, but good. Right now, when I think about our program, I feel like I've been rocked with a concussion.

  7. Critiqued at Wyoming for predictable play calling. This certainly sounds a bit like same ol' same ol' to me. At least the defense is playing pretty well and should keep us in most games.
  8. It has been mentioned many times on this site and I will throw my hat into that ring as well. I miss the days of a dual-threat QB. ASJR is just that. Why don't we see what we have there? I know we paid DR and maybe knowing that the job is his to lose will motivate him...or maybe this is just the version of DR that exists. I realize that they may be trying to preserve a redshirt, or maybe he isn't great at reading complex defenses...who knows. How 'bout we give him the ball and say, "go do what you do".
  9. Agree or disagree, interesting points were brought up in this article. From championship hopes to rock bottom, what went wrong for Oregon?"Sometimes it's the health of the team, it's the bounce of the ball. There's some things that you really can't control," said former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti, who helped start Oregon's era of modern success with the program's first ever double-digit win season in 2000. "Yet when you have the initial ranking and the belief and you've paid [$50 million] amount of dollars for a roster, there comes to be a certain belief that, 'Wow, this is our year' but things still have to go right and they haven't." How it all started to unravelYet a closer look at what the Ducks lost from last season yielded some glaring results. While no marquee names left Eugene, Oregon, lost 27 players in the January portal who were all rotational players or backups. What's more: 23 of those Oregon transfers ended up at other Power 4 programs, despite only one of them (Jahlil Florence) starting more than three career games for the Ducks. Fifteen of those 23 players are starters for a new team this season with several starting for ranked teams, including Ole Miss outside linebacker Blake Purchase and Alabama defensive lineman Terrance Green. No loss was bigger than offensive coordinator Will Stein. His departure to be Kentucky's head coach prompted a robust staff exodus too, including Pat Biondo to be Kentucky's GM, Cutter Leftwich to be his offensive line coach, Parker Fleming to be his special teams coordinator and Dallas Warmack as assistant offensive line coach. Even more, former defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi left his post as defensive coordinator to take the head coaching job at Cal and brought six former Oregon staffers along with him to Berkeley. https://insider.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/50286778/oregon-demise-failure-season-lanning
  10. Meh got fired... why is everyone shocked its not another play caller behind him?
  11. 4 star recruit solidifies commitment. Oregon Ducks On SIOregon Fans Will Love This Message From Four-Star Recruit...The Oregon Ducks’ third loss of the season after seven games, plus the news that the program parted ways with offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer, raised plent
  12. Dan Lanning announces Jay Johnson will take over playcalling duties after Drew Mehringer firingOregon head coach Dan Lanning has slated veteran coach Jay Johnson as the team's interim playcaller. Johnson served as the offensive coordinator at Colorado, Michigan State and Wyoming most recently. https://247sports.com/college/oregon/article/dan-lanning-announces-jay-johnson-will-take-over-playcalling-duties-after-drew-mehringer-firing-291835499/
  13. Obviously, Dante’s health has to come first and I wouldn’t want to play with Oregon’s O-line with these offensive coaches. Maybe it’ll be a blessing for Dante long-term, as he is more likely to go to a good team that will not feel pressure to rush him to play as a rookie and he’ll be able to learn and develop behind a veteran QB.
  14. If Dante has to miss the rest of the season for medical reasons, I would be very hesitant to draft him on the first few rounds, if I were an NFL team. That is a long time to miss and underscores the severity of the injury.
  15. I would try contacting either Jeff Tedford or Marc Helfrich to see if either of them are interested in being Offensive Analyst. Yes, it's a long shot for either one, but let them say "no" before moving on.
  16. Dudes pretty fragile. He will be quickly forgotten.
  17. Yahoo Sports "Locksley doesn't anticipate another college head-coaching opportunity. Rather, he's reportedly open to working in the NFL or serving as a coordinator for a championship-caliber college program." Get on the phone and convince him the Duck can win it all.
  18. He didn't seem to be as good as everyone thought, anyway. DR wasn't the only one missing wide open recievers. Some halfway decent QB will want to come to Eugene...
  19. Washing out at 2 consecutive OC positions is why he's stuck as an assistant QB coach. DL has to turn to him because apparently there just isn't any other choice.
  20. Eisenhower had Patton and McArthur We should carve out 2.5 million for each and go make a run at these hires! We already are spending a ton of money on a roster and the HC, spend the rest and get the Natty winners on staff! Mike Locksley was Bamas OC before he got the Maryland HC job. Won the 2017 title as CO-OC under Saban, in 2018 he was the OC and won the Broyles award. He has as years of experience, about a decade calling plays. Just got fired as Maryland HC. Dave Aranda won a Natty at LSU with Ed Orgeron and has years of experience, about a decade as well as a DC. Broyles award nominee in multiple years/schools and was the games highest pad OC when he was at LSU. Just got fired as Baylor HC. Problem solved, we aren't showing up in the playoffs looking not ready to play and getting out coached. Let's roll out the Lanning school of former HC's rehabbing their careers like Saban did at Bama.
  21. You have to be kidding. My friends, I have finally answered that long ago framed philosophical question. "THERE APPARENTLY IS NO LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL."
  22. It's not really that surprising that we don't really have anyone with experience calling plays, this is fine as a stop gap, we aren't going to get much better with the personnel that we have at QB and the O-line.
  23. I hear Dante Moore is available, between Lanning's kids and him we could have something.
