  1. Seems like human nature to me. Who wants the new team to come in and dominate? Going to be tossed a few barbs where possible imo. Be curious to see how we set up Utah their first couple years in the PAC. Or Texas and OU in the SEC.
  2. I’m not going to dig too much into anything I have zero control over, such as how my entertainment is funded. That being said, agreeing to anything that goes until 2046 seems completely insane on the surface imo. If you want an example, just look at how bad (moving forward) the ACC current grant of rights deal looks right now…and it still has 11 years to go.
  3. No need to take a pay cut prematurely if he’s not going in the first round, but if he’s first round material at the end of the year it changes the dynamic imo. Our reality is that most truly great players will be in college 3 years, if they’re good enough to play at 18, there’s almost no point in redshirting. If they need a year to get stronger out of HS, most will leave after 2 years of being on the field. Balancing that reality with a few diamonds in the rough that develop over 4-5 years and you’ve got something.
  4. Super league. Honest question, is there anything currently prohibiting this? I know they cite the 1961 law, but I doubt that would hold up, and if it did, I suppose that’s the reason for a super conference. A media rights law from 1961 might as well be hieroglyphics imo. We barely even had color TV at that point.
  5. Random aside. When I played out the season in the popular CFB video game, I did in fact play PSU 3 times 😆
  6. Love the article and the follow-ups in this thread. Hey, it’s the Wild West and there are no rules, so I’m going to invent a rule that a team has to play at Autzen 5 times before they can be considered for rivalry membership.
  7. I think on offense we’ll keep improving. Our best playmakers are the youngsters and eventually they’ll all start…3rd down conversions have reflected youth to date imo. Dante just took a quantum leap forward beyond dominating terrible teams and being on cruise control. He was fantastic. Pass D is a menace, run D is just fine…most teams aren’t Penn State’s rushing attack and we looked damn good on that front for 3 quarters at least.
  8. Epic Beavis choke. They actually had enough talent to win that game but the staff is completely inept. Does 2-10 still get a bowl birth if they threaten a lawsuit?
  9. If the national narrative is this is an incredibly difficult task against a team ranked ahead of us that is favored, let’s roll with that. Means we’re playing with house money.
  10. Get well brother, I appreciate your years of work here.
  11. I don’t usually mess with people's Cornflakes…if someone still wants to follow recruiting super closely and they enjoy it, go for it. That being said, since this is a thread on the topic, for me personally I used to rabidly follow recruiting, but stopped as soon as the portal became a force. I still follow the macro and want us to do well, as it perpetuates perceived success which translates to success on the field eventually. But I personally refuse to be held hostage by the whims of a 17 year old trying to leverage himself. I’m all for kids getting what they can, but really don’t care about the negotiation process. Don’t get me wrong, the staff needs to be following this very closely, and they do an amazing job. As a fan, tell me who’s made it to fall camp and I’ll start drilling down more at the individual level.
  12. That’s still not official, the same “reported” story we’ve been hearing about for a week..but not announced by either school yet. They keep quoting themselves as a source. Seems like if there was actually an agreement it would have been announced by now.
  13. Has this actually been agreed to starting in 2027? I have found lots of references to continuing with Beavis, but nothing indicating it’s actually been agreed to. Anyone know?
  14. Hill and Davison, the future might not quite be today, but I think it is this season. They could be great! I hope I’m wrong, but the odds of Noah not being injured throughout the year are slim, and the transfer to date seems underwhelming.
  15. Los Angeles recruiting and B1G membership off the top of my head. IMO, nobody with options is willingly choosing to move to Stoolwater 😜 UCLA is on the rise with NIL spending, right coach there could make some waves.
  16. Don’t get me wrong, Droughns might be my all time favorite Duck, but I’m actually very optimistic about our frosh backs and was surprised that Noah was HB1 out of the gate. As a fan, it’s hard to get a feel when splitting carries between 7-8 guys to date.
  17. Hard to imagine WS not taking UCLA over Okie.
  18. Interesting list that has zero old guard B1G teams that aren’t tOSU or a team with a new coach. I’d flip some of the conversations circulating in the world and start taking a look at our pass defense efficiency. Hasn’t our goal always been to make teams one dimensional? Our pass defense has been so good teams getting blown out that should be airing it out have been unwilling or unable to do so. I believe Beavis threw for almost 300 against a very good Texas Tech on the road a week before us, but only managed 80 yards at Autzen on 7/22 passing. Give me a one dimensional, caveman football team to defend any day of the week!
  19. Depends on the outcome, the environment doesn’t seem as tough when you win. Hard to quantify what makes something tough, but we have no shortage of appearances in some of the toughest venues. That being said of the most cited top-10 toughest places to play (which includes Beaver stadium) we’ve actually only played at Ohio Stadium and Autzen to date. So Beaver stadium should be in the running. Two not listed in most lists that are very tough when the teams are good IMO are Martin and Husky stadium.
  20. Indiana is probably pretty good, but I take this as more of a statement about Illinois. Illinois was supposedly good last year and they left zero impression against us as we did our standard 35-3 at the half handling of inferior teams. No legitimate team should get boat raced by a fringe playoff team like they just did.
  21. How’s it going UNC? They’re such a circus. Bubba Cunningham always trying to get a single season sideshow to boost ticket sales and just refuses to take football seriously. There’s way too much talent in that region for UNC and NCState to both consistently be such a clown show.
  22. Run D officially not good. Beavis rushed for 8 yards last week.
  23. They should have fired him last year, but they still worship the guy and allowed him to fire everyone and take a pay cut. I’d be surprised if they fire him before he “resigns” at the end of the year. They aren’t serious about winning beyond making a bowl game imo.
  24. Slippery slope. I mean for anyone who is still into tracking high school kids two years from setting foot on campus, who am I to spoil your fun? I used to do the same thing. That being said, this is exactly why I don’t allow very much of my attention to be held by some random 16 year old. Executive summary for me 😆
