Offensive Concerns
Hmm previous week we had 700 yards and all was well. I’m going to go with it was really wet, we don’t look as focused at home…and yet we still doubled the rushing yards UW usually gives up. Long season and we are 7-1.

A New Stein-Threat, and Pate Pushes Oregon to His No. 3?
IMO with all of the HC openings (and more to come) and the absolutely stupid $$ being tossed around, there’s almost zero chance we won’t need a new OC. I choose to embrace it…the days of a 5 year OC are pretty much gone for us.

The Quarterback Conspiracy Theory or I am So Confused.
Perhaps the Cal QB is enjoying his 1 year, UC study exchange program but will rejoin us next year 😂

If Pac-12 Money Had Been Different....How Would You Feel About it NOW?
If we’re looking for a ridiculous wish in time… How about going back to when we were pretty close to having a PAC16 with Texas and Oklahoma, but no one besides USC could wrap their brains around unequal revenue sharing becoming the world we live in? Texas wanted more of a “merit based” system (that could have been negotiated to actually be based on current merit), but the Beavis’s of the world couldn’t imagine that a smaller piece of a MUCH larger pie would still be a good thing. Long history of teams in that conference not carrying their weight but getting a full share. Ironically, in 2026 I believe every former PAC-North member will be getting something other than a normal share in whatever conference they will be in that year.

Wisconsin Uniform Reveal: 'Grateful Ducks!'
Completely awesome, I actually want some merch.

New Poll Out & Billy Napier is Fired
I’m personally a fan of chaos for UW. I’m also not convinced there is any guarantee Stein will be a good HC, it’d be a calculated risk imo. That being said, my guess is UF takes a run at Kiff and DL, but ends up with Drinkwitz.

The Quarterback Conspiracy Theory or I am So Confused.
Not sure it’s a terrible thought at all. Could well be that Smith is next up, be it next year or the year after, and we go into the portal if needed. There’s no way to groom (and keep) 3 future QBs at once in the portal era.

Can Penn State Still Affect the B1G Playoff Picture?
Maybe if they hadn’t lost their veteran QB. Seems unlikely now, but maybe they have an amazing backup.

Cignetti Signs New 8 Year Contract at 11.6 Million per Year...With Indiana
Third highest paid coach with 1.5 years of P4 head coaching experience, zero conference titles, and 1 signature win? Seems like a bit of a reach IMO, but I hope he has sustained success.

James Franklin is Out at Penn State
I mean good lord, there’s getting fired at UCLA or OSU which were/are complete dumpster fires going into the season. But man, to go from top-5 to canned in half a season is just wild.

Bray Out at Oregon State
Wild to handpick an “easy schedule” and start 0-7. Now they end with a more manageable schedule of no names, but who would pay money to see Sam Houston State? They might actually win a couple games soon, but will anyone see it?

Whoa! Did You Hear That Massive THUD Out There?
Well, as long as we aren’t as broken as we looked on offense, this actually really won’t hurt us, and may actually help in the long run. I’m not going to gloss over the offense getting zero TDS in the second half (when we needed them) at HOME. No one, I said no one should be able to do that to us in our house. That being said, we’re still in the top-10 and IU is now considered legit. If we had pummeled them they would have dropped hard in the polls. This makes the conference look way stronger and will go a long ways toward getting 3-4 bids instead of the two it looked it was going to get. Suddenly there are quite a few B1G teams with one loss or less at the halfway point.

Post-Game Thoughts: Will Oregon Grow From This?
We’re just not very good, relatively speaking. We have yet to beat a team with a pulse as PSU has lost 3 straight now. How good we are remains to be seen I suppose, but I’m guessing 9-3 at best.

Pat McAfee Slanders the Oregon Defense with an Incomplete Truth
Yeah, first question I asked myself when he said that was, how many red zone trips have there been? Thanks for the info. Guessing it was more of an ignorant take from someone that doesn’t ever prep. The bigger disappointment to me is no one else on the crew calling it out. 6 red zone trips in total almost half-way through the season is an absurdly good stat.

Hoo-Boy! Facts, Funnies, & Testy-Trolling!
That can’t be real 😆 That’s just so far off base it’s ridiculous. They seriously thought with the new seeding method that somehow Louisville would be the 4 seed? Utah a 3 seed?

Oregon is Almost a Blue Blood, but Not Quite.
This 💯 The term “Blue Blood” really had become antiquated imo. To be "Blue-Blooded" means to have a noble, aristocratic, or royal lineage, originating from a family of high social standing. You can’t change your origin, so perhaps the entire concept of “becoming” a blue-blood is a contradiction

Oregon is Almost a Blue Blood, but Not Quite.
Great thoughts! I think we’re a bit like a frog in the slowly boiling pot, our environment is substantially different than it was in say, 1995…but it’s been a slow burn that we might not fully appreciate. Hard to compare eras, but we definitely get the benefit of the doubt way more than 95% of the teams out there. One example, we lost our QB and we’re starting a guy that flamed out at UCLA going into the year, but we were still ranked in the preseason top-10. Will we ever get as much benefit of the doubt as USC or Alabama? Hard to say. Another thing to think about is how do teams “lose” blue-blood status? Is Army still blue-blood? Harvard? Minnesota? Or somewhat more recently, how about Nebraska? Oklahoma? TA&M? IMO this is a slippery slope, but I’m not sure it matters anymore aside from getting ribbed about zero titles.

Uniform Reveal for Indiana Game...'Whatever!'
Going to go ahead and say I think those are sharp, but then again, I’m only 55 😉 As to the stormtrooper unis at PSU, I thought that would be cool too, but there may also have been some thought about having uniforms that contrast well with the sea of white in the background. (David Marsh beat me to the punch)

Oh Beavis....Lost to Appalachian State?
I do believe their original O/U was 7.5 wins. The biggest koolaid swilling Beavis supporters had visions of no worse than 10-2 with a real shot at running the table at making the playoff due to their wise investment at QB. It truly is an incredibly light schedule (by design) and they completely faceplanted.

Oregon Broke Penn State
Long season and some random teams usually take the place of those that fall. The SEC has a relative LOT of losses on the ledger for their contenders. The normal pattern for the SEC would be that “Texas only lost because now Florida is in the top 10, so let’s not penalize Texas too much.” Hard to do that when they lose to a Florida team with a losing record, but they‘ll try. SOS concepts being tossed around by the SEC mouthpieces are a bunch of smoke imo. Only way we don’t get in with 2 losses is if we have horrible timing. If we go 10-0, drop the last 2 in a row and don’t make the B1G championship game….thats the only 2 loss scenario that keeps us out IMO.
-
Oh Beavis....Lost to Appalachian State?
Nope! Just remember they’re actively trying to kill the MWC instead of joining forces, no empathy. I’d still put their ceiling at 4 wins with a floor of 1. The thing I don’t get is how obtuse the Oregonian was on picking them to win. The logic was “Boise just beat App, therefore even though it’s on the road, Beavis will win.” They somehow still think they’re on par with a team that made the CFP last year. Going to be a shame when they don’t crack the top-4 of the new PAC next year.

Oregon Broke Penn State
First road game not being until game #5 catches up to them. Let’s not start playing the transitive properties game quite yet. tOSU only scored 14 at home against Texas, who just gave up all kinds of points against a 3 loss team, etc etc. =tOSU is no good. I think I have the math right.

QUAAACK! Five-star Tajh Ariza Commits to Oregon
Always exciting to see a good prospect signed. I hear you on the “abandoning” of the team, but imo it’s not because of the arena. I’m in PDX and had the option of going to any game I wanted for free last year, and went zero times College basketball in general has become pretty boring in the regular season imo. OBD teams the last few years have been relatively mediocre and Dana plays an old school brand of ball….football has raised the bar, squeaking into a field of 68 no longer moves the needle like it used to.
