With the win, Oregon advances to the semifinals later today against two-seed Nebraska. Scolari (5-0) dominated from the start, striking out the side in the first inning. The Ducks’ starter finished with 10 strikeouts, one off his career high, in five innings of work. He finished his outing striking out Huskies’ two-hole hitter Braeden Terry to end the fifth with the bases loaded. Cal Scolari Twist took the ball out of the bullpen and proceeded to keep UW scoreless through the next three innings. He left the game with a 9-0 lead after retiring the first batter in the top of the ninth before giving up a base hit and a walk. After Twist departed, UW hit a grand slam to cut the lead to five. All five of Oregon’s home runs were solo shots, with back-to-back bombs in both the fifth and sixth innings. The Ducks scored a pair of runs in four different innings in the win. How It Happened: Oregon (39-15) took the early lead with a pair of runs in the second inning with the help of some free passes. Naulivou Lauaki Jr. led off the frame with a base hit and moved to second on a Jack Brooks hit-by-pitch and third on a Gabe Miranda pinch hit. With the bases loaded, Washington starter Noah Kenney walked Ryan Cooney and Angel Laya to force in Lauaki and Brooks to give UO a 2-0 lead. Oregon pushed the lead to three in the third. Lauaki hit an opposite field solo home run into the Huskies (24-32) bullpen. Naulivou Lauaki blasting his homer... In the fifth, the Ducks went back-to-back with solo home runs to lead off the inning. Drew Smith belted his 15th of the season, while Brayden Jaksa followed with his ninth. In the sixth, the bottom of the order got in on the long-ball parade. Eight-hole hitter Jack Brooks pulled one over the Huskies bullpen in the right-field corner before Miranda followed with one into the Huskies bullpen. Brooks’ homer was his sixth while Miranda belted his fifth. Box Score Notes: The two back-to-back home runs marked the first time in Charles Schwab Field history that one team has had a pair of back-to-back homers in the same game … Smith’s homer moved him into a tie for 10th on the single-season list at Oregon … It was also the 27th of his career, tying Guy Krause (1971-74) for sixth in the career list … Lauaki’s home run was his 11th, all coming since April 8 … The five home runs tied for the fourth most in program history … It was the first time Oregon hit five homers since May 31, 2025, vs. Cal Poly. Ducks win 9-4, as relief pitcher Michael Meckna gave up a grand slam, but finished the inning. A BIG semifinal today against Nebraska on the Big-10 Network at 4:00 PM PST!

9-0 Ducks after eight innings. Toby Twist gave up a hit, but erased it by generating a sweet double-play! Maddox Molony got plinked, and Jack Brooks hit a sharp-angled drive on the RF line and to the side-wall to get a double. Ryan Cooney was intentionally walked, and then Angel Laya nailed a hit up the middle to score Molony. Drew Smith sacrificed-fly to score Brooks! Destroying the Huskies....

7-0 Ducks after seven innings. Toby Twist cruised through the inning with three flyouts, and the difference in being a top-four seed becomes evident. Oregon has strong, rested pitching, while Washington has already played two games and doesn't have as much pitching depth available. Well, that and we hit pretty-darn-good!

7-0 Ducks after six innings. Toby Twist came in with his good 4.01 ERA, and gave up two base runners, but stranded them with two strikeouts. Then Jack Brooks pummelled a pitch into the RF stands for a solo homer, and then Gabe Miranda blasted one to the same in the same area for back-to-back-JACKS! First game this year for Oregon with FIVE home runs, and as JDuck noted above...the last two were off a transfer pitcher who left Eugene to go to Seattle. Figures!

5-0 Ducks after five innings. Cal Scolari got into a bases-loaded jam...and then got out of it with more strikeouts. He has ten KOs for the game! Drew Smith gets things going with a solo homer into the Oregon Bullpen! Then Brayden Jaksa just crushes a pitch and sends it over the same Bullpen, over the seats, and into the concourse! Whew! These three freshmen of Jaksa, Laya and Lauaki have been sensational for Oregon!

3-0 Ducks after three innings. Cal Scolari walked a batter, but then generated a sweet double-play! Naulivou Lauaki was patient, and found his pitch--and drove it into the Husky Bullpen for his 11th home run in his short season. Whew!

2-0 Ducks after two innings. Cal Scolari did well again to give up a hit, but retire the rest. Naulivou Lauaki nailed a base hit up the middle, and Jack Brooks was plinked. Gabe Miranda was pinch-hitting for Jax Gimenez, and drove a liner into RF to load the bases with one out. Ryan Cooney waited out a walk to score Lauaki, and then Angel Laya did the same thing to score Brooks. But Our Beloved Ducks stranded bases-loaded after that!

0-0 after one inning. Oregon is staying with their new rotation, and thus the new Saturday starter, Cal Scolari, is on the hill. He is pitching at a 3.27 ERA, and fanned the first three batters easily. The last one he nailed the inside corner at 95 mph, and so good to see his control there to start. The Bastard Huskies start Noah Kenny with a good 4.40 ERA, so this will be a battle. On offense...Ducks stranded two in scoring position!

That birdie was a FishDuck photographer, (who I unfortunately won't be using anymore after 14 years and the site sale...) who was shooting an event this last weekend, and after moving to a new spot--found himself standing next Marcus Mariota, who was visiting. They got to talking, and it was interesting as this photographer was shooting pictures during the 2012-2014 time that Marcus was here....and Mariota remembered him on the sideline back then. Anyhoo, the conversation moved to the current team, and this photographer expressed some concern about whether Dante Moore can make the next jump in his QB development. After he was done he asked Marcus how he felt about the ability of Moore, and whether he has topped out? Mariota told him that he felt that "Moore has all the tools, mentally and physically, but only one year is not enough to develop a quarterback. With more experience this next year--you will see that next step slowly take place." Good! If anyone would know--Marcus would. As we know, Dante has played pretty well in 90% of our games, but in the big ones--the inexperience got in the way. He has been in a ton of big games, and this next year--will be better in them. The FD photographer also asked...based on the Spring Game....who did Marcus think would end up as the No. 2 quarterback at Oregon this fall? "Dylan Raiola."

I'm will use this thread to report both the rankings this week and the projections for whether Oregon hosts a Regional as they all come out today. As of 7:15 AM Monday morning--we have two reports to post. First: D1Baseball ranks Oregon down one spot from No. 13 last week, to No. 14 this week. I don't think it was anything the Ducks did wrong, but simply that another team had a great week and bumped up. UCLA was No. 1, Beavis was No. 7, Nebraska was No. 20 and USC was No. 25 concerning teams we are impacted by. Second: On3 released their NCAA Baseball Regional Bracket Projection going into conference tournaments, and here are the fun-facts and surprises: --Oregon is given a No. 15 National Seed, and would host West Virginia, (hot right now) UC Santa Barbara, (yikes-tough) and St. John's. They flat-out stated that Oregon was vulnerable and could lose hosting if we do not do well in the Big-10 tournament this week. I think we need to win two games to lock down the Regional host... By being No. 15 and not No. 16....we would face the Georgia Tech in the Supers if we win our Regional, instead of playing the Bruins again in Los Angeles. Good. --UCLA is hosting of course, and so is Nebraska with a No. 12 National Seed. --USC is traveling to the Oxford Regional as a No. 2 Regional Seed, and it was stated--it was because they lost the series to Oregon. A play or two in one game decides so much... --Beavis got no respect, and is a rated only as a Regional No. 2 Seed, and they travel to Starkville where Mississippi State is a National No. 14 Seed, and very vulnerable to Oregon State. Beavis has no conference tournament this week, and thus cannot change their fate. (Nobody to sue?) Again...this all can change after this next week of conference tournaments. But it gives us a better idea of what is on the line. And it is gratifying to see that the highest Our Beloved Ducks have been projected through this long season--is right now. Finish the job this week!

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Oregon track and field team swept the Big Ten outdoor titles Sunday afternoon to complete the 2025-26 conference Triple Crown, coupled with its sweeps earlier this season at the cross country and indoor meet. The Ducks have now won 10 of the 12 available Big Ten titles since joining the conference ahead of the 2024-225 season. The Men of Oregon scored 121 points to secure the team title and out-pace the runner-up by 40 points, and with the help of a massive collection of points Sunday, the Women of Oregon racked up 110 points to rally past the field. The UO women scored 91 points on day three of the conference meet. The Ducks combined to win 10 Big Ten titles this weekend in Lincoln including eight on Sunday: Simeon Birnbaum and Juliet Cherubet in the 1500 meters, Tayson Echohawk and Dalia Frias in the 5,000 meters, Aaliyah McCormick over the 100-meter hurdles, Sharifa Davronova in the triple jump, Ben Smith in the shot and Marie Josee Bovele-Linaka in the discus. McCormick successfully defended her title in the 100-meter hurdles, and for a second-straight season, completed the indoor-outdoor conference sweep of the sprint hurdles. With a strong tailwind (+4.9), McCormick stopped the clock in 12.43 with Micaela De Mello (12.63) following up for third. The duo accounted for 16 points. Bovele-Linaka was the first champion of the day for Oregon, using a season’s best of 59.01m/193-7 to secure her first Big Ten title. With that toss, a second-round effort, she moved from fourth to third on the program’s top-10 list. Bovele-Linaka joins Jaida Ross and school-record holder Jorinde van Klinken beyond 59 meters in UO history. The Women of Oregon have now won three of the past four conference titles in the discus. On her first jump of the day, Davronova broke the meet and Big Ten record with a wind-legal jump of 14.13m/46-4.25. That measure also makes her the first UO woman over 14 meters in program history. She led a 1-3 Ducks finish with Cassandra Atkins who had a day’s best of 13.52m/44-4.25, good for an all-conditions best. A day removed from a third-place finish in the discus, Smith was back in the ring Sunday and turned in an NCAA-leading measure of 20.88m/68-6 to win the shot put. That mark came in the fourth round on the heels of a 20.56 effort on his previous throw. In addition to the lifetime best, Smith moves to No. 3 on the all-time Oregon list. Smith and Kobe Lawrence (19.66m/64-6) finished first and fourth, respectively, for the last 15 points toward the men’s total. The Ducks add 14 points in the women’s 1500 meters with Cherubet pulling away down the stretch to pace a 1-5 finish with teammate Wilma Nielsen. With the win, Cherubut (4:16.53) added a second Big Ten title this year after winning the indoor 3,000 in February. Birnbaum won his third Big Ten title of the year with Sunday’s victory at 1500 meters. During indoor season, he swept the 3,000 and 5,000 titles in Indianapolis.
