I haven't been this disappointed since the Indiana game in '04(?). You know the one. Five fumbles was it? I remember saying I wanted MB to resign, as we were leaving the stadium...

All those things, plus I think the play calling on offense is indefensible at this point. Lanning is going to have some questions to answer about not conducting a real national search to hire experienced coordinators, which has probably already cost this team a shot at a playoff run and a chance at a natty.

I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think Lanning is capable of winning the big one, he doesn't have a ruthless streak with his players or coaches. He doesn't hold players accountable for mental errors, he doesn't go after the best coordinators possible, he doesn't prepare for games like the best coaches do.

He recruits very well, and he looks good on a hype video, but he continues to have his teams unprepared, he continues to make terrible in game decisions, and he continues to rely on talent instead of getting the best out of his players.

In truth, se still control our way to playoff, In fact if we play like like this as SC, we will be behind 28-0 in first quarter and play off done.. An anomaly? Seems not after watching last week... I'm afraid Donte made a poor business decision in not going second in the draft.. On the surface, it certainly does not inspire confidence in the new coordinators... I find Dan going for it on 4th late in quarter to be interesting? Just no confidence in defense, frustrated, etc.. I dunno... An out of conference away game... no bit deal if I had not seen it,

Lanning's got some 'splainin to do. His first real and total face plant. Let's see how he handles it.

Perhaps a coaching staff that has fallen short of preparing the team to come ready to play.

A coaching staff that has not built intensity within the players.

It appears that defensively that both BSU and OSU players were in the Ducks offensive huddle and knew the exact play the Ducks were running. Is the new OC play calling predictable?

The hype is done, the rubber has hit the road and the Ducks are playing with one or two flat tires.

All the Duck goals for this season are out in front of them. I wonder if the coaches and players are willing to make the changes needed to reach them.

What a let down this game was for most everyone.

Maybe Lanning was thinking the defense had very little chance of stopping OSU? Still, you have to punt there, or at least call timeout if your players look confused before the ball is snapped. That play had no chance from the start.

I don't care about the playoffs, I really don't at this point, I just want a winning season, that's how bad we look.

I have so little confidence in the coaches at this point, they are consistently awful in preparation. We get by with talent, not with scheme or coaching.

I still say that we have a decent chance to bounce back next Saturday against PSU.

After watching this program 54 years, I will say that this is one of the more shocking losses that I can remember. I'm stunned by this one and absolutely tired of all the hype.

I said after last week's game that maybe hiring from within wasn't the best idea. Both sides of the ball have regressed greatly.

While it is not the end of the season, it is time to keep an eye out for an offensive and defensive coordinator, just in case.

I think this take is correct by Geoff. This is arguably the worst loss in Oregon history.

And it was the second one following an equally poor decision to go for it on 4th and 7 just inside the 50 yard line. Your defense was just beginning to show signs of life. That one changed the remainder of the game IMHO.

If I were offering DL my sage advice I would suggest banning cameras from the practice facilities. The hype machine has run its course.

Once upon a time we lost to PSU game one and went to the Rose Bowl. This team, hmm, just so much wrong.

I expected to see progression from last week. Instead, I saw regression everywhere, except special teams. Thats coaching. Unfortunately, I suspect we've seen DL's ceiling.

Actually, the social media stuff was really good this week, and the uniform reveal was to die for.

It's never as bad as it looks either. There is a world where Ok State is in the B12 title game and Finishes in the top 20 right beside Boise State.

It's flat out unfair for players with bodies conditioned to 60-70 degree dry air to suddenly play in 97 degree ultra high humidity air. It melts your brains and turns your muscles to jello. They were out in it way too long with the lightning delay to boot after getting up at 4am.

Remember all the bad games against Arizona teams in November in the PAC12 when it was summer weather in AZ but we were used to fall weather? I believe it's harder to play good going from mild to too hot l, than going from mild to super cold.

The game is over and so yes I'm making excuses, but this horrible loss is not inexplicable.

We certainly have issues to fix with the inexperienced players, but if BSU and Ok State are really good and the weather impacted our players as badly as I have experienced before, there is still a possibility for this team to be really good this year. Natty? no, but playoffs? still possible.

Next game..

Lastly I hope Carl Williams is okay, they showed him getting knocked out cold and he could barely even walk after he woke up. Tough to see.

Back-to-back games where I saw ZERO enthusiasm on the field? Where is the on-field leadership?

The only hope? This is how Ohio State no-showed much of the 2025 season before kicking it into gear. But Ohio State made the PO as a 2-loss team. Will this Oregon team finish 10-2?

Players making lots of dough who could be in the NFL appear to be unfocused and uninterested. Where's the pride?

I agree with a number of the above comments. How about less focus on the bells and whistles marketing and more attention on winning games?

Zero energy from the team. O Line looks like a Beavis team (that’s even being generous). Dante Moore looked like he wasn’t focused at all except maybe for a few minutes in the 2nd half.

The defense is a straight fraud. Too many missed tackles that should have easily been made behind the LOS. Finney still looks good but he isn’t winning the game for us.

Running backs atleast looks like they could be great however, see previous comment about O Line. Was always a Drew Mehringer skeptic and it’s been 100% validated. He looks like he’s just pulling Will Stein plays out of a box at random.

Dante will be lucky to be a top ten pick. Atleast he may slide to a decent team but he won’t be a starter anywhere at this point. Could definitely get an NFL GM fired for sure!

I have been thinking along the same lines as Solar, whose recent statement was fair and sensible.

My observations, for what little they are worth:

1. I grew up in Eugene but live in Atlanta. If you have never dealt with Southern heat and humidity, you have no idea how debilitating it is. This is no excuse, this is a reality.

2. Lindy's said before the season that OK State was a dark horse contender for the Big 12 championship. Yes, they looked bad last week, but the real team is probably the one that showed up against the Ducks. Morris is a good coach who clearly has some players.

3. To my recollection, Drew Mehringer did not commit any holds, fumble the ball, drop any passes or miss any blocks today, unlike several of his players.

4. I doubt that A'lique Terry has forgotten how to coach. The more obvious explanation for the offensive woes is that our offensive linemen are not good run blockers. Also, I don't know what to think about Iuli. Is he a full strength or not? The results today may suggest that the time has come to take a chance on Tommy Tofi. Otherwise, I see no quick fixes. I would be interesting in hearing from Schwartz and everyone here on this.

5. My policy is not to call out individual players, but I make exceptions in the case of bad sportsmanship. When Dakorian Moore scored his touchdown, which was an important moment in the game, he seemed more interested in doing his dance than celebrating with his teammates and actually keeping his mind on the game. The referee reminded him to knock it off. Call me old school, but I dislike this kind of display. The bigger problem is what it indicates about the player's mental preparation for the game. I blame them more than the coaches, as dealing with this generation is no doubt difficult.

I sure hope EVERYBODY THAT HAS MADE A NEGATIVE COMMENT IS STILL COMMENTING IN DECEMBER.

They look horrible. Guess what, my first Oregon game was 0-63. This team is nowhere near that pit.

I truly hope our fan base NEVER becomes as insufferable as other programs that win and expect national championships every year.

Right now-OBD suck. Plain and simple. Who cares how good we were last year-it never transfers to the following year. EVER. So forget about the talent. Forget about what we have been the past 3 years. Don't worry about the coaches. They don't play the game.

These players either believe they are elite, or they don't. It will show up in how they play the rest of the season. At this moment, scheme doesn't matter. Culture doesn't matter. Coaching doesn't matter.

In case you haven't noticed, the level and excellent coaching in college football is far more elite than it ever has been. All the way down to FCS level. Oklahoma State threw stuff at OBD like Cignetti did TWICE last year. And it isn't because Dan Lanning can't coach. It is because coaches are spending maximum time figuring out how to stop these elite teams.

I saw Dante Moore wince when he had a TD pass, then later throw the same pass for 20 plus yards. We saw elite WRs drop FIVE passes. One of them was simply jumping to catch the pass and score a TD. You cannot throw the passes for Dante Moore. You cannot go on the field like Woody Hayes did and punch a player. Your players have to do the pummeling. And at the moment, this team is not mean and nasty. This team is not hungry. This team isn't running through walls.

Experts are calling OBD wusses. And they were being kind. You might not like the coaches, but I guarantee you, NONE OF US can go on that field and call a better game. NOT ONE.

Do I want to see a different scheme-HELL YES. But it is not my team. Now I might be brash enough and start showing everything I am pretty sure coaches already know about our coaching staff-but the entire team must decide who they are and what they want to do the rest of this season. We should be there for them because FEBU is unacceptable. The team should not have to tell the fans to take a hike.

I hope Lannng can see how bad this was. This wasn’t just a loss. It was uninspired ineptitude from the coaches to the players in full view of the world.

I think he needs to at the least demote his O/C and D/C back to position coaches. Maybe shift to O/C by committee and take over D/C himself.

Then, hire some real ones like he should have done last year.

I’ve seen the Ducks look much worse on the field in my day but I’ve never seen them look so unprepared and rudderless. Something has to change because that was just ridiculously bad.

Not sure I can. I was in Honduras with a guy that was on the Bus when Kiffin got the tarmac. He was one of the down votes. He sitting right next to me right now, pretty much in shock at how Oregon has played up to this point.

The team lacks cohesiveness from the top down.

Back when Cristóbal was the coach I called him the Clay Helton of the north.

I think DL is now the Clay Helton of the north even though Clay's gone.

More talent than most teams in the nation and it's being wasted.

Oregon had this issue at times last year where they came out slow but they picked up steam as the game went on. This year they don't seem to have that ability.

Oregon would've lost last sat if it was in Bst.

Right now 7-5 would be predicted which is hugely disappointing.

On the upside there's still a lot of football left. On the downside there's still a lot of football left.

Coordinators matter. The turnover is a big part of this.

I don't want to criticize or single out players other than to say I saw very little intensity during the game. The Ducks appeared to be sleepwalking. Even worse, the team wasn't just beaten, they looked beaten down. That's a bad situation in dire need of correction. A real coaching challenge. There's a lot of work to be done between this game and the coming one with USC in a few weeks.

It could be bit like Penn State 2025 where seemingly small changes in the roster and coordinator changes lacked chemistry with the players.

Maybe having Bryce Boetcher graduating took away the heart and soul of the defense. Not having him flying around out there like psycho has to be a different vibe.

I'm wondering if that is why will Stratton was in for a bit, seeing if a walk on could inspire the team to play the game with heart.

Tosh may not have been the best play caller, but the dude had a vibe that will make you lock in and ball.

On the Offense, the struggle is real with the OL. The 3 players we lost may not have been all World (pun intended), but they were experienced and consistent and gelled with the each other.

I do believe Dan Lanning is better than James Franklin and will refuse to accept this team falling apart.

Mehringer's play calling seemed better to me this game and I thought I saw some adjustments at halftime that helped. It's certainly no fun to be calling plays with a struggling run game. Then again, Drew Mehringer was shut out 4 games as the OC at Rutgers in what some called the worst offensive season in the history of the school, which is kind of a lot of years.

At the post game press conference, Dan said heis still not down and out enough to question the current offensive and defensive schemes that "worked well for us for years", so if you are really sick of them, you had better hope we keep losing until Dan seriously questions them.

I agree that the turn over of both coordinators is a challenge, but on the positive side there's continuity. Hopefully they'll have a Tim Tebow moment and rally.

I think this was (or should have been) a concern since spring.

We've got two jumbo size freshman linemen that should get a chance against PSU. Maybe they're hungary to play, and should get a shot.

I was a bit baffled when Dan and Division Street picked up one O-line guy from the Ivy League.

On D? Where's the Boettcher guts ball?

However, OBD has 10 games to find redemption. Finish 11-1 and the first two games will not matter.

We weren’t ready to play a team representing a proud program (with one national title) that last year we handed its worst loss in history, caused the firing of its long time head coach and pretty much the complete meltdown and rebuilding of its team.

Not sure there was anyway to prepare for the pent-up feelings those folks were experiencing. Vengeance or retribution probably don’t even come close.

On the other hand, we didn’t look like we were ready to play South Eugene High School either.
