Yesterday at 02:32 AM1 day No. Expected this. Kids on campus who always hear things…arrest warrants were issued for both Hampton and Jamari the night this all happened. There were 9 players involved. What is trouble some is when this story broke Hampton called it all lies. They have the videos and now will trying to evade the police come into play. This story is not over.
Yesterday at 02:49 AM1 day No. I hope that recruiting analysis techniques emerge to measure 'knuckleheadedness'
Yesterday at 02:53 AM1 day No. 18 year old millionaires, what could go wrong? I hope the prosecutor goes the "fullest extent of the law" route on this. And anyone else involved at any level should be dismissed from the team immediately. Edited yesterday at 02:56 AM1 day by Log Haulin

It means he didn't run. One other car that got away is still being investigated.

Why?Yeah, let's destroy their future over something that only hurt a cops ego.
23 hours ago23 hr No. Trying to remember being that age it's a little foggy but I'm sure I did a few things in not proud of. Money or not 19 to 22 year old boys so some dumb stuff. There, but for the grace of God, go I.

With a felony evading conviction, he will have his license suspended for a year which is mandatory in Oregon. I assume there will also be a fine and probation. It all depends on the judge. Messiah better hope he/she is a Duck. It’s a good thing Beavis doesn’t have a pre-law program or law school because he could face up to five years in prison.“Hampton is facing two felony charges of attempting to elude police and one misdemeanor charge of reckless driving, according to jail records. He was booked into Lane County Jail and was released Friday evening.”

He should have grown man consequences for criminal behavior.Felony eluding is not a minor offense, otherwise misdemeanor would have been the charge. Hampton and anyone else involved should feel the pain of it.Just because you are really good at football doesn't give you a get out of jail free card. Should be quite the opposite, you should be held to a higher standard.I remember a young man on this football team that was highly talented but troubled. He got treated with kid gloves with his dereliction. Did that ruin his life/future? If Colt would have gotten much firmer consequences early, maybe his life wouldn't have been destroyed.Worked for me. In my late teens early 20's I got into a lot of trouble. The judge didn't treat me like a child. I paid the consequences. And it changed my life. Football is not life or a right. It is a privilege and should be honored as such. Not being able to play does not ruin lives. Neither does paying the consequences of criminal behavior.

He was also charged with two attempted eluding felonies. So he eluded, got away, then doubled down on that poor choice and eluded again. He is a valuable piece of the future of Oregon football. He probably gets a much lighter sentance than Average Joe. Sad but most likely true.

14 hours ago14 hr No. Fullest extent period. My God, he gets NIL money and he LIES about it on social media. He pay's the price and gets one shot at staying on the team. One more and he is gone. There were two cars and Jamari was driving the other car. The cops know it, Lanning knows it. I would be fine sending them all packing. I pay thousands for tickets and that may end after this year. They are all adult enough to want and get big bucks!

14 hours ago14 hr Moderator No. This team is becoming too tiring to follow. I just want to cheer for the home team on the weekends but this is getting ridiculous. With an under qualified staff of 30s ish coach bros leading a team of 4/5 star NIL bling kids, the results are becoming as predictably cartoonish as a bad after school special. There is a clear lack of discipline and accountability from the top down on this team. A coach gets a DUI with no consequence and a pattern is set. I think this coaching staff is so underqualified and young it has the same effect as a substitute teacher with a third grade class.Getting drunk, racing on the streets and running from cops by who knows how many players after one of the most pathetic and ugliest games I've ever seen. Then the game after all that drama is even worse. All because there are no adults in the room.Lanning needs to get a hold of this team ASAP. I have no problem supporting an 0-12 team that does everything it can to succeed. This is something entirely different and is losing me.

He had something to say about this. The public said the same thing about one of his players.Plenty of kids this weekend drank illegally. Should we throw the book at them too? Not condoning the behavior, but asking. Are we a police state now and nobody gets grace for messing up?How about taking his NIL money and teach him a lesson instead of branding him with a scarlet letter?

Why?Yeah, let's destroy their future over something that only hurt a cops ego.Hopefully, this actually is his first offense. And I want him to get nothing more or less than the legal consequences that any other person who made such highly dangerous decisions, while committing multiple felonies, would receive --- while taking into consideration his age, prior activity, etc. Hampton is fortunate that he apparently has the money to afford a good attorney.
13 hours ago13 hr No. It should be a privilege to be a Duck. With $0 NIL, it should be a privilege of a lifetime to get a free education, playing the sport you love, on the biggest stage available. There are millions of young men who don’t get this opportunity. They work multiple jobs for an education. They take on a tens of thousands in student loans that could take decades to repay. They fought hard every night to earn the right grades, and worked just as hard at football but didn’t have the size or talent. They didn’t stay out late getting drunk and committing felonies evading law enforcement. And you know what? It’s not difficult at all to stay out of trouble. The vast majority of citizens can do it. Whether it’s coaches or players, it shows a tremendous amount of disrespect for the team, the university, and the whole community. If someone had been hit or killed, they wouldn’t have a second chance. If convicted, there should be no second chance. There is always redemption for everyone, but being an Oregon Duck is a privilege, and you likely lost that privilege.
12 hours ago12 hr No. Young adults (especially young males) make bad decisions. I'm speaking from personal experience. If this is true, he needs to be punished by Coach Lanning and staff to send a message to both him and the rest of the team, but I agree that the punishment shouldn't be too severe, if this is his first offense. Perhaps suspended from playing the rest of the season (but allowed to be around and practice/workout with the team) and having to do some community service related to the violation? If what is reported is true, that was extremely dangerous and idiotic and deserves very significant consequences. I’m not the coach, but if I was, he wouldn’t take another snap in an Oregon jersey. Maybe he should go talk to Henry Ruggs before it’s too late. Edited 11 hours ago11 hr by GeotechDuck
10 hours ago10 hr No. When these young men and a running back coach commit really egregious behavior like street racing, evading the police and drunk driving, I would boot them off the team. I mentioned in another thread that I lost a family member to a drunk driver. Dan Lanning seemed to give RaShaad Samples light punishment and the players know this. Bad actions should have consequences.

They just make them in crappy cars while drinking the cheap stuff. I’ve been there. I went to college in a dry county in the south. We had to drive 30 miles to get to the nearest liquor/beer store. You can probably guess how we passed the time on the long drive back. Keep in mind that we were usually bootlegging because we would collect money and bring back several cases/kegs, etc. across county lines. I think the limit per person was 48 beers and a fifth of spirits. When you’re buying for a party, that limit gets busted pretty easily. However, the key to not getting busted was driving an inconspicuous vehicle (not a black Trans-Am) and driving the speed limit.
1 hour ago1 hr No. I tend to agree that some of the comments or expectations here are a bit harsh..Hamptons bald face lies after the fact concern me the most.I do not Condone, nor to I believer their behavior to that different to many teens today and in the pastIm not really sure it is fair to punish them and condemn them more just because they earn a lot of money. Many of these player as still just kids.I will defer to Dan who knows more than I of situation to do what is best... should he not.. then the future will likely be short for him. I do think the Samples event is somewhat a mitigating factor in this.Just my opinions. I do understand and respect others opinions here and happy to learn more .
40 minutes ago40 min No. I drive a school bus in Portland in the hood up and down 122nd. I see the worst of the worst drivers every day. What I can tell you all is that bad driving is not unique. It is quite prevalent. That anyone even cared is news to me. I won't say what I think should happen to those who speed, cut in and out of lanes, blow red lights/stop signs, etc. because I would get kicked out of this forum. What I will say is that who choose to drive that way should get arrested and prosecuted. And they should not be allowed to drive again - ever if I had my way. If they stay on the team or not is not my call. But for just one offense, I think a suspension sounds right. If the behavior continues, then release them from the team.
