Marsh Duck - Quick Quacks Oregon v Boise State
"...enough to be the G6 champ." That Sept. 26 game when Boise State visits Western Michigan could be interesting. If you were the CFP Committee today, what would you consider a better performance? BSU at Oregon? Or, W. Michigan losing at Michigan on the plus-one second? W. Michigan is defending MAC Champ. You might say the MAC is a weaker conference, but if WMU beats Boise State... Though, BSU seems to "get up" for consequential games. I think that is something a lot of fans overlook with BSU. How many games per season do they have to dial up the emotion, as compared to Power4 teams?

Marsh Duck Monday - The Ducks Need to Unleash the Vertical Passing Game
Excellent article. Thank you. If our O Line figures it out and can give DM a little time, we will be making a lot of teams pay with 25+ yard strikes downfield this season.

Marsh Duck Monday - The Ducks Need to Unleash the Vertical Passing Game
They are an extension of the run game. Getting a player into space with the ball in their hands. It worked fantastic for Chip and company but defenses have know how to defend in space and if they can tackle in space then it's easy to slow down an offense.. It also felt like there were some missed blocking assignments on the perimeter on Saturday as well. Lock down those assignments and I think they work better. But open up the vert passing game and the defense can't play so close to the line of scrimmage. I'm not advocating getting rid of short passes because sometimes getting small chunks is all you can get... But those vertical passes were deadly and we need to see more of them.

Money & exposure are always good things... but not so wonderful unless you win. Hopefully, in the next few days, our defense can figure it out, and our O line can protect DM better. And I'm still betting that BSU is a Top-15 team.

Marsh Duck Monday - The Ducks Need to Unleash the Vertical Passing Game
Those behind the line side passes fail most of the time and receivers are usually tackled before the line of scrimmage. Why do coaches insist on using them?

Why the 9:00 AM PST Start Time vs. Oklahoma State?
"To the fan, does the start time really matter?" As a fan, of course I couldn't care less what time the game starts. But I'm not the one down on the field playing football. And I could be making a issue out of a molehill. Perhaps a 9:00 AM body clock start time doesn't impact players. But I remember the last year when we had a 9:00 AM start against an average at best Northwestern, and if I recall correctly, we struggled. I realize that is completely anecdotal, but I'm curious. When I get a little time, I'll do some research and look at teams over the last 10 years that played 1) On the road, 2) Games that started at 9 AM according to their body clock, and then I'll share the data.

Oklahoma State falls to Tulsa, will face Oregon nextOregon's Week 2 opponent, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, didn't have an easy go of it either in Week 1 — but the difference is that while they fell behind early, they never found a way to come back, losing 24-10 to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on the road. Not only are the Golden Hurricane a Group of Six team in the American Athletic Conference (AAC), but they reside in Oklahoma and are considered the "little brother" to the Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners. https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2026/09/06/oregon-football-week-2-opponent-oklahoma-state-falls-tulsa/91643155007/

Why the 9:00 AM PST Start Time vs. Oklahoma State?
Approximately 76.7% of the United States population lives in the eastern and central time zones. That works out to about 3/4 of approximately 340,000,000 people. That is lot of potential viewing eyeballs. Businesses pay top dollar to advertise their products/services to reach the target audience. Networks need to show numbers to get top dollar. To the fan, does the start time really matter? Avid college football fans on the west coast watch Game Day at 6 am Pacific. And that show is a shell of what it once was. My youngest son played college ball from 2001 thru 2003 at a west coast school with a horrible program. I asked him how he and his team mates felt about 9 am starts in Alabama, Louisiana and Texas? Dad we are getting to play football, stay in fabulous hotels and have fun. Then we pick up 3 hours of time flying home, which gives us more time to do what is really important. I asked before I thought it thru; What is truly important son? Hanging out with girls, Dad! DUH..... For this Duck grey beard, a 9 am Duck game means i happily do my wifes honey do list Friday. For me it is Duck football. Anytime, any place, anywhere. It is must watch TV. For a sporting event this game has very little appeal to viewers outside of Oregon, Oklahoma and Lincoln Riley. Go Ducks.......

Why the 9:00 AM PST Start Time vs. Oklahoma State?
You can blame The Mouse. They base everything off of Eastern Time. ESPN is carrying the game so they put it in their 12:00 ET window. Disney merged ESPN and ABC Sport into one division and since ESPN produces sports on ABC they didn’t want it to overlap with Bama/UK at 3:30 ET or Texas/Ohio State at 7:30 ET. They consider the 3:30 and 7:30 windows as their prime slots, so they schedule their best matchups there. They did schedule the A&M game at noon on ABC, so they (and ASU) also get an early start in College Station. I guess they don’t mind the overlap in the noon window because it’s not prime viewing time.

Marsh Duck - Quick Quacks Oregon v Boise State
There were indeed better in the second half. But the fact Meringer was displaying the same tendencies to get cute like Will Stein did throughout his tenure in Eugene is concerning to me. Those sorts of plays consistently were broken up by elite teams and I wish OBD would go away from them.

Michigan-W Michigan
The optics on this are just so poor. especially given that Western Michigan pretty much dominated the game and clearly looked to be the better team on this day-and in a hostile environment at that. Hail to the victors...NOT!
