  1. Agree. Zero incentive to play good teams in OOC right now. I would like to see the committee have a metric for SOS (NET or RPI like in hoops) and would have no issue with a 9-3 team getting in over a 10-2 or 11-1 team from the Power 2. However, until the committee takes that step, this is what we are stuck with. Unfortunately, the only thing that matters is number of losses.
  2. “Our strategic coaching philosophy DNA on offense is not aligned to the players on our roster, and is destined to fail against elite experienced (ie smart and disciplined) teams.” This is what I keep coming back to on my end. McLaughlin pointed out on his podcast the difference between Oregon and Indiana when they run RPOs. Most of the time, when Indiana pulls the ball, that throw goes out in front of a receiver that is running downfield. Frequently, a quick slant. They put their talented skill position players in a much better position to make a big play because their back is not to the defense when they catch the ball. When Oregon runs an RPO, frequently the ball this thrown sideways into the flat to a receiver or running back that has his back to the defense. This requires that player to try to turn first before attempting to make a defensive player miss that is running downhill towards the play. As you might guess, this has a low success rate of significant yards after the catch. The end result, as the poster above noted, is 7 negative yard pass plays and two failed 4th down conversions against an G6 school. Why is Oregon so scared of the middle of the field? And how do you not take a deep shot almost every time when you have 1:1 man coverage with these receivers? And more importantly, does anyone think this kind of playcalling will work against USC? Oregon needed complete mismanagement of the clock by Boise at the end of the first half and an incredible play by D. Moore to win that game. Honestly, I’ll go 9-3 as my prediction for this year. I don’t have confidence that Oregon can call winning, aggressive plays on offense. I do think the defense will get cleaned up, so I am not focusing as much on that.
  3. I know I said this in the game thread, but throwing the ball short of the line to gain on 4th and short should be a fireable offense. The crazy thing is they did it twice! On the first one, a receiver looked to be running wide open behind Hill. Moore never looked at anyone else on either play, so I am going to assume that was a play calling issue and not Moore screwing up. NEVER EVER THROW THE BALL SHORT OF THE STICKS ON 4th DOWN!! I not even going to mention the play where they had 3 NFL receivers in man-to-man coverage and they chose to throw a backwards pass to Stewart and let him throw it to the end zone. JMac almost made the play, but why even go there?? I could go on and on. If I had to grade the offense play calling, I would give it a D.
  4. Too bad McClellan slipped on that. However, here is my issue. You line up and have three potential NFL wideouts all in man to man coverage with an NFL QB and you draw up a backwards pass to Stewart and let him throw that ball? They almost had it, but why call that there???
  5. I like how Boise didn’t throw it short of the sticks on 4th down. We should pay attention and use that next time.
  6. I hope we push the ball down the field and run it down their throats in the second half. 👻
  7. Again? You have to be kidding me! Don’t throw it sideways on 4th and short. This is unbelievable. Another HS play call there. Wow. 🤯
  8. Yeah. Williams got embarrassed multiple times. Not a great start for him.
  9. I have a serious problem with throwing the ball short of the sticks on 4th down and 2 with 4 NFL WR/TE on the field. Not impressed with the playcalling on either side so far. 🤮
  10. Trying to decide what is more shocking for Ex-Ducks: Byron Cardwell’s 5 carries for -4 yards against Youngstown State. Or Justin Flowe being 3rd string on UNLV’s depth chart. Yikes!
  11. @David Marsh Thank you for the updates! I don’t understand the Fair Catch Kick. So we are addicting another special teams rule that allows teams not to actually have to play football? I know it will be rare, but this kind of stuff makes me crazy. This has soccer written all over it. What’s next? Maybe we can get rid of OT and go to a best of 5 FGs for each team to decide the game? 🤮
  12. Looks like you can watch to see if Jon is correct next season for $199. It’s insane you can get season tickets for less than $200. The program needs a massive turnaround next season. “Get Your Oregon Men's Basketball Season Tickets Now! Starting At Only $199.“
  13. That new helmet is mid. Don’t love the MSU stripe.
  14. Unreal!! Just go all in I guess and worry about it later?
  15. The most impressive performance of this game goes to these guys:
  16. Andrew doubling down on this information. If this is accurate, this is far from good.
  17. This is a very sad story. I hope his condition continues to improve. That game against Wazzu was something else.
  18. Ouch! Pretty brutal article about the state of the men’s basketball program. You can read for free by entering your email and selecting non-paying subscriber and confirming your email.
  19. The SEC needs to update their slogan. “It just meant more”. Fixed.
  20. IMO, if you go to 76, at a minimum, you need to give both the regular season conference winner and the conference tourney winner auto bids. That would add some more non-power teams to the field.
  21. “This past season he shot 43.6 percent from the field, 23.5 percent on threes,” Oregon gambling on another Power 4 SG that struggles to shoot the ball? This has not worked very well for Oregon in the past. Let’s hope Easter can make a big jump in production and efficiency next season on offense.
  22. I am starting to get a little worried. With Bowen committing, that is essentially 7 forwards on the roster. I know some of them are stretch players, but it might be time to look at a true guard or true center? PF- Stewart, Compton, Bowen, and Harrison. SF - Riley, Meadow, and Ariza
