  1. He looks better with one hand right now than most of the others with two.
  2. I have no problem with teams executing until the final whistle. In fact, I would make the argument that none of Oregon’s backup QBs (and many other positions) were ready to play under Chip for this exact reason. Oregon would get to a point where they were comfortable, bring in the second string, but not run real offense. The result is that the players didn’t get “real” game snaps. I think the sportsmanship piece comes into play when you have the game won and you are still playing the starters. But if you pull everyone and the other team can’t stop your 4th sting QB and 5th string RB, then that’s on them. You owe it to your backups to get some real game experience under those circumstances. In this case, I have zero issue with the Hail Mary. There is an entire half of football left and you are only up 4 scores. Plus, as the OP stated, it is a great opportunity to practice a rare play. My other opinion in all of this is that a Power 4 team should never play an FCS school, but that is a whole other argument.
  3. Overall, pretty good showing. First of all, credit where credit is due. Drew called a nice game. I was quick to jump on him, but hopefully he has his legs under him now. RB room is legit with 5+ guys that could probably start on most teams. Especially impressed with Riggs, as he has some outstanding field vision. OL and DL still look like they both still need work. What is up with Mayato Uiagalelei?? He didn’t record a single stat against PSU. On that same note, what does Nasir Wyatt have to do to take that starting spot? Once again he had a few tackles, QB pressures, and batted a ball down. He is vastly improved against the run. His PFF grade so far this year would indicate he is one of the best players in the nation. What else does he need to do to take that starting edge job?
  4. He’s accurate and not afraid to throw into tight windows and throw receivers open. IMO, you have a higher probability of explosive plays with him in the game, but maybe also a higher risk of turnovers. Good news that they have their QB for next season.
  5. Oregon’s RB room is insane.
  6. Really impressed with Riggs’ vision. He looks great. Raiola didn’t miss a beat when he came in. Good to see. OL still looks like it needs work.
  7. I think he is in a boot.
  8. I was disappointed the article didn’t mention the ghosts he was seeing out there. Good thing Portland State doesn’t have that many ghosts on their roster. Oregon should be okay this week. 👻
  9. After last week, maybe they should be wearing pinnies? Seriously though, those look pretty sharp.
  10. Agree. So why does he continually miss those downfield reads unless he is clean in the pocket? Or at least it seems that way to me. He either lacks confidence that he can make that throw or he is not seeing the field.
  11. Serious question. Is that a high percentage throw for Dante to McClellan? In the pocket, yes….all day long. Out of the pocket while being chased? Can he make that throw consistently? Or does he even trust himself to throw that? We have seen so many missed opportunities down the field over the past year when he is not in a clean pocket.
  12. I am not sure I agree with it being only a player issue. On defense, Oregon has 8 returning starters, including several on the all BIG ten list and a freshman All American. Do they all of a sudden not care or forget how to play? Tosh was a guy who brought the juice. Players rallied around him. Is Hampton that guy? That is yet to be seen, but so far the answer appears to be no. Dante Moore is an exceptional pocket passer, but not as accurate while on the move. So naturally on 4th and 8 you call a play to roll him out to the right immediately and take away 1/2 half of the field WITHOUT two of your start receivers in the game? The playcall is indefensible IMO.
  13. Mike - Is this is what you were touching on? According to this, teams know exactly what Oregon is going to do before the ball is even snapped:
  14. I have been calling out the coordinators since the middle of the Boise game. I know the players don’t look ready, but why is that? There are 8 returning starters on defense that was in the Top 10 last year. Either the players don’t believe in the scheme and/or the coaches are not motivating them properly. I’ll go with both. I don’t even know what to say about the offense. Going 0-6 on 4th down against a G6 school and a school on a 12 game losing streak is indefensible. The OC’s solution was to throw it short of the line to gain last week TWICE and hope the players can break some tackles? Then on 4th and 8 in this game, with one of the best pocket passers in the country, you roll him out to the right immediately and take away half the field? Just gross. 🤮 That said, I will always continue to pull for my school. Go Ducks!
  15. I think this take is correct by Geoff. This is arguably the worst loss in Oregon history.
  16. Maybe Lanning was thinking the defense had very little chance of stopping OSU? Still, you have to punt there, or at least call timeout if your players look confused before the ball is snapped. That play had no chance from the start.
  17. All those things, plus I think the play calling on offense is indefensible at this point. Lanning is going to have some questions to answer about not conducting a real national search to hire experienced coordinators, which has probably already cost this team a shot at a playoff run and a chance at a natty.
  18. Last week, one rushing play in the first quarter. This week, one completion. 4 possessions. 39 yards!!
  19. OSU starts with 8 guys that are within 4 yards of the LOS on 1st and 2nd down, with LBs cheating up in the middle. So obviously call 2 interior runs to start there. 🤪
  20. Yeah! We should wear those with corduroy OP pants!
