Since it was the last play of he game you could overturn the ruling and still have a clear winner. Definitely worth the protest. It's not too late.

Time To Believe Your Own Eyes?
I do bet, and I bet on Boise State last weekend. Of course, I rooted against my financial interest because I wanted the Ducks to win by a hundy. But free money is free money. We all knew we weren't going to cover that number.

What Will We SE(C)E from the B1G in Week 2? Will OBD Cowboys Up?
Boise State provided a terrific Week 1 test for OBD. After a close loss, Boise moved up in the AP Poll from being ranked 28th to 26th. After the "Quad 1 win," Oregon was logically dropped from ranked 2nd to 6th. 🤪 For Week 2 Big Ten games not cited below, Search: 'football schedules bigten.org.' All times are Pacific. AP Poll rankings. --- Friday - 9/11 - Rutgers -8.5 at Boston College - 5 PM Fox - B1G vs ACC After its Week 1 debacle, Rutgers is favored? Two of the worst teams in CFB, but worth a look to watch 9/11 victims honored. --- Saturday - 9/12 - No. 6 Oregon -22.5 at Oklahoma State - 9 AM ESPN - B1G vs B12 This game lost some of its luster with the Cowboys' Week 1 loss to Tulsa. But Boone Pickens Stadium is a tough place to play at any time, and tougher with a 9 AM body-clock start and hot, humid weather conditions accompanied by NOISE! --- Duke at Illinois -6.5 - 12:30 FS1 - B1G vs ACC Both teams won their Week 1 games. Transfer QB Katin Houser had a good opening game for the Illini, but the new 3-3-5 D was shaky. Oregon plays at Illinois on October 24th. --- No. 35 UCLA -8.5 vs San Diego State - 4:15 PM BTN - B1G vs Pac-12 Bob Chesny and the Bruins got off to a terrific start last week, taking down Cal 45 to 24 in front of 63,000-plus fans in Cal's sold-out Memorial Stadium. Against Tosh's D, UCLA put up 461 yards, 277 yards rushing. I hope close to 40,000 fans will show up at the Rose Bowl. SDS is expected to compete for the Pac-12 title. Will the Bruins show the same intensity as in Week 1? UCLA visits Autzen on October 10th. --- NO. 14 USC -30.5 vs Louisiana - 8 PM BTN - B1G vs Sun Belt 2-0 SC is ranked behind many 1-0 teams that have played equal or lesser competition. With three cupcakes OOC and its opening B1G game at Rutgers, SC will get no Top-10 respect unless and until it can defeat Oregon in the Coli on September 26th. --- All three of the Week 2 B1G vs SEC matchups are included below in On3's Top 10 Week 2 CFB Games. Oklahoma is favored over Michigan. Mississippi State is favored over Minnesota. Texas is favored over Ohio State. Lose all three games and the noise out of Dixie will be deafening. Time To Believe Your Own Eyes?
The fact of the matter is that Our Beloved Ducks needed Boise State to play that well. It's all out in the open now, the things need to be worked on. Also the "national title talk" is now gone, and the jinx that comes with it. My hope is that they have a hard week of practice and are determined to make amends.

Time To Believe Your Own Eyes?
I don't bet ... and I wouldn't bet on the Ducks because Dan Lanning does not give a crap about the spread. He only cares about the win. I think here even if the Ducks did blow out the Broncos and the reserves did get some play, Boise State probably would have back-door covered anyways. Lanning would have seen he had the game under control and was giving his reserves valuable reps. Betting on a Lanning team to cover the spread is a risky proposition.

Boise was seeded 3rd in the 2024-25 PO. I think Boise State will finish in the Top-25, but not in the Top 10. As Charles noted, until OBD wins a Natty, the Ducks are low-flying targets. Oregon defeated a team ranked 28th in the preseason AP Poll that lost to Oregon and moved up to 26th in the latest spot, while OBD dropped four spots. Logical, right? Matt Hayes needs to write something negative; that's his forte. He could write about Rutgers ' faceplant, but who gives a whip about Rutgers? Texas destroyed an inept UTEP and moved up one spot in the AP. USC is 2-0 with wins over two teams better than UTEP and remains ranked 14th behind four 1-0 SEC teams that consumed cupcakes in Week 1. As I noted in another post, the AP Poll will not matter when the final PO committee ranking is revealed on 12/6/26, but the PO committee rankings are as subjective as are the Coaches and AP Polls. Another thing that led to the critique of Oregon's performance was the ridiculous -24.5 spread. I'm true to my school, but I knew my wallet would be hurt by not taking Boise and the points. Yes, OK State and its new 91 players lost at Tulane on Saturday, but a line of Oregon -22.5 playing in Boone Pickens Stadium also sets up Dan and the team for ridicule. But positive or negative, teams aren't dumped on or praised if they're not a team, like OBD, that is followed coast-to-coast. Lasso the Cowboys! Paste the Paddle People!

Marsh Duck Monday - The Ducks Need to Unleash the Vertical Passing Game
For the life of me, I don't know why they don't mix in more fake screen passes where one of the blockers ends up running a slant or go route behind the charging defense. This at least keeps them honest.

Polls are meaningless except for talking points for talking heads or conference "pimps", to justify their positions regarding said conferences. True, at the end of the season "one particular poll" DOES in fact have meaning and as we have seen in the playoff era, they don't really care or adhere to the other "ole timey" polls rankings. (The super secret, star chamberish processes that they do adhere to is still one of the universes greatest unsolved mysteries....but that's a topic for another thread!) If Boise St. Runs the table in the "new' PAC, then this win will only be viewed as a positive for OBD's SOS. But, don't be surprised when Boise St. Once again visits Autzen in November as the G-6 representative. (Those star chamber mofo's love to "setup" conflicts in the playoffs as this.) Anyway. Rather have a contested win like this one was, than a contested (controversial) win against vastly inferior opponent ala Michigan/W. Michigan. Which gave the talking heads more "meat" to talk about than OR/B.ST. BRING ON THE POKES!!! GO DUCKS!

The Oregon Audit: The eye test was right — but not always for the reason we thoughtOregon’s explosiveness was real, its defense was better than 27 points suggests and the deeper numbers explain how Boise State stayed alive. There is a danger in trying to understand a football game while it is still happening. You are reacting to the last play while trying to keep up with the next one, and the scoreboard inevitably begins coloring everything around it. A 4-yard run looks different when a team is trailing by 10. A third-down incompletion carries more weight when it follows another stalled possession. A defensive series that would otherwise look perfectly acceptable can begin to tell a different story when the opponent keeps hanging around. That was one of the things that stood out Saturday. Take Two: What we think we saw — and what Week 1 can’t tell us yetOregon’s uneven opener created plenty of conclusions after one Saturday. Some may prove right. Others might tell us more about how we consume college football than about what the Ducks actually are.One of the things that happens after a game turns out a little differently than expected - win or lose - is that we tend to become reactionary. We saw it almost immediately after Oregon’s 34-27 win over Boise State. There were national conversations moving the Ducks from one of the best teams in the country to something closer to a playoff question mark, as though four quarters in early September had suddenly revealed everything we needed to know about the next three months. Perhaps some of those concerns will prove to be correct. Oregon certainly gave us enough Saturday to make the questions legitimate. The offensive line did not consistently look like the finished product the Ducks will eventually need, the defense did not create the early havoc we expected, and 10 penalties made a game Oregon controlled statistically much more difficult than it needed to be. But Week 1 has a funny way of convincing us that whatever happened first is what will keep happening forever. We have been here before. (THANK YOU SCOTT! Yes we have been here before. Let's not forget about how 2024 started out.) Take Two: What we think we saw — and what Week 1 can’t te...Oregon’s uneven opener created plenty of conclusions after one Saturday. Exactly! For all of the griping that Notre Dame did last season for being left out of the playoffs, they didn’t have a single win against a team that finished the season ranked in the top 25. Teams need all the ranked wins they can get.
